cj @cjcoffey.com · 18/03/2026Just in a constant state of existential dread because of AI. Does anyone write code anymore? Does anyone even read the output and try to understand it? I'm losing my mind. Why have we collectively just given up thinking and learning? *continues to yell at clouds * 011

cj @cjcoffey.com · 08/01/2026Every week I get asked by the iRobot app how it's going. I don't know, man. This thing gets stuck on nothing twice a week. You tell me. 000
cj @cjcoffey.com · 02/01/2026I've been revisiting C++ lately after not being in this space for like 15 years, and holy hell is the JavaScript comm spoiled. I'm using Qt and I'm still having to hand write things I feel like could have been taken care of by the framework or a library. It's good for me. I gotta re-learn. 010

cj @cjcoffey.com · 10/10/2025100% agree with this. Back in the angular 2 days, I'd often just skip writing tests because it was such a pain to get things sorted in such a way for them to work. When everything is just a function, it's so much easier to test things. 010
cj @cjcoffey.com · 10/10/2025If anyone is looking for the solution, there's a bit in the Astro docs on this. docs.astro.build/en/guides/im... cj @cjcoffey.com · 09/10/2025Totally feel this. Casey Muratori did an interview with JetBrains a few weeks ago that echoes a lot of this. I've noticed significant skill atrophy from co-workers that have relied so heavily on copilot and other AI things. I'm sad to see so many rob themselves of the joy of coding. 170

cj @cjcoffey.com · 18/08/2025I wasn't expecting to waste a whole weekend devoted to getting docker setup on my raspberry pi, hosting nextjs apps and more on it. But I did. It's done now, at least lol. Anyone else gone through similar? Or is there something cool I should be hosting on my home server? 010
cj @cjcoffey.com · 05/05/2025Do you have any recommendations for that sort of thing? I've been using Astro lately because I like the templating and the DX, but I'm curious what else people are using. 200

cj @cjcoffey.com · 20/04/2025Oh, interesting. I was unaware. I haven't used it in a long time so I always thought everyone left because it became so common. Like every website was a bootstrap website. Kinda like how nowadays every website is a shadcn site lol 010

cj @cjcoffey.com · 04/01/2025Perhaps a rant for another time, but the thing that bothers me is that we're expected to be highly skeptical and highly critical on literally everything. Why is the burden always on the consumer? Why can't businesses just be trustworthy? Living like this is exhausting. 010
