#QueerPrompts October 3 From a scene I'm working on for Paranormal Activity Club in which Bree finds a secret passage in a closet that leads to the closet of a whole other room. A room that hasn't been stepped inside for centuries and yet a room with crying in it...

As she stepped out of the closet, the lamp in her hand flickered and dimmed, as if it were already running out of oil. She was in another bedroom, probably the one behind the locked door they’d found earlier. Then the lamp went out, leaving her in darkness.
A prickling sensation ran up the back of her neck as she realized the crying was coming from the room she was in. “Uh... hello?” she called again as she set down the lamp and pulled out her phone. “Come on, turn on,” she muttered. The thing remained stubbornly useless.
As her eyes adjusted to the dark, she could make out what looked like a canopy bed. The crying was coming from behind the curtains. …Curtains that moved slightly. Maybe it was the wind? No, there wasn’t an open window or a breeze. Someone else was in the room with her.
She jumped as a ding came from her phone and she quickly turned it over to see a series of texts from Ollie asking where she was and saying that they hadn’t found the ghost downstairs.
With her phone working again, she turned on the flashlight and the once terrifying space instantly transformed into an elegant bedroom. The pink flowers on the walls matched the rose gold candle holders and ornately embroidered curtains covering the windows.

Also, in the light, the white curtains covering the bed looked harmless. So, she reached out and pushed the curtains aside.
At first she couldn’t see anything but darkness and particles of dust floating in the air, so she held out her phone and—
There, lying in the center of the bed, was a skeleton in a dress, dried hair fanned out around its decomposed skull. It was the widow and she had died in bed inside her locked bedroom. It was tragic and gross at the same time. Though, that meant the crying was coming from...
The skull fell to one side and she screamed, running for the door. She fumbled to unlock it and ran so fast she practically flew down the stairs, Spook appearing out of nowhere to follow her down. When they got to the bottom, they were met by Nico running toward them and away from the bathroom. He wasn’t wearing pants, but she had bigger problems to focus on.
Riley came running over with Luna and Ollie before looking from Bree to Nico. “Do I even want to know?”
That was when a giant rat walked out of the bathroom and promptly fell over dead, its tongue hanging out.
The group just stood there for a moment. At least most of them were wearing pants.

#QueerPrompts October 2: LGBTQ History Month: Queer historical reading recs I mostly read fantasy or contemporary (romance of course), so I don't know if these count as actual historical reading recs since half of them have magic, but they're MM/gay and take place in the past! 😁

Background is an old library with wooden arches and books. The text is "MM/Gay Historical Romances" and above and below the text are covers of the following books:

The Secret Lives of Country Gentlemen by KJ Charles

Legend of the White Snake by Sher Lee

A Gentleman's Gentleman by TJ Alexander

Together on Parade by Sarah Wallace & S.O. Callahan

A Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee

Kindred Rivals by Jordan Lee and Spara Solace

Before We Disappear by Shaun David Hutchinson

#QueerPrompts September 29: Who would burn down their school? Nix would burn down his school on accident because he's a walking disaster bonded to the element Fire, but Zephyr would do it on purpose. Bree and even Dylan would be sad, though, since they actually like school. Ew, I know! 🙄

#QueerPrompts September 28 I tend to write stories where the world is similar to this one, which of course isn't queernormative, but for Paranormal Activity Club I wanted to try out a queernormative world. Once I removed the pressure to be straight and cis, most of the characters became queer. 🤷🏼‍♂️

“So, what, you’re standing in the way of the free press?”
“You’re free to leave. How’s that for free press?”
She crossed her arms. “How did you even notice us?”
He raised a single eyebrow. “You parked your van directly in front of my office and have been wandering around campus in broad daylight with a man carrying a ten pound camera.”

#QueerPrompts September 13 I write about teenagers, so I tend to have some disrespect toward adults since adults can be less open minded and more set in their beliefs. There's some conditioned respect toward elders, but for the most part it needs to be earned by them showing the ability to learn.
