This is an interesting analysis by CNN. People keep voting for the opposition because they want something different. However, we need to improve civic education to help voters understand that ‘different’ doesn’t always mean ‘better.’ www.cnn.com/2025/09/07/p...

America has strayed so far away from the system our forefathers created that it's going to be incredibly hard to find our way back. At a time like this, we need civic education more than ever. We need to remember our history. 3/4

I don't think anyone could have anticipated that a President of the United States would bully the Smithsonian into changing museum displays, force ivy league universities to remove certain courses, and withhold funding from K-12 schools across the country until they change their curriculum. 2/4

I think independent redistricting commissions would be a great idea in every state, so we agree there! Otherwise, a second body with longer terms and larger districts would just be a Senate by another name.

Civics4All @civics4all.bsky.social · 03/07/2025
I get it. If I lived in California, New York, or Texas, I would hate the Senate too because it seems so undemocratic. However, it was part of the “Great Compromise” for a reason. Our friends in small states would quickly get tired of being outvoted in Congress on issues important to them.
000
Civics4All @civics4all.bsky.social · 02/07/2025
Hate to be a Debbie Downer, but the Senate is there to counterbalance the House. With elections every two years in the House and members only having to win the votes of a few thousand neighbors instead of their whole states, Congress would be even more useless and chaotic without the Senate.

You did it again @netflix.com! #Squidgame3 is a brilliant reflection of the human condition: Greed and cruelty dominate the majority, but a defiant minority based on love and helping others ultimately wins. And chef’s kiss on the ending! The ultimate game of greed and capitalism belongs in the USA!

Polling relies on scientific methodology, but none of that matters if you don’t have the right sample. It’s all about who they include in their sample and whether those people accurately represent the voters who will participate in the election.

When I lived in South Carolina in my 20s, I wasn’t on Medicaid, but I got all of my birth control, pap smears, and annual checkups at Planned Parenthood because it was the most affordable option without insurance. So many young women will lose basic health coverage because of this decision.

Every Republican influencer on X is already trying to convince everyone the shooter was a Democrat. They’re pointing to a recent vote against providing healthcare to undocumented immigrants and sharing a photo of a guy they claim used to work for Walz, claiming he was the shooter. It’s disgusting.

I honestly think this says a lot more about Plouffe than it says about the Democratic Party. After Obama’s victory, he became the goose that laid the golden egg, so he decided to cash in in every way possible … Uber, Coinbase, and I can’t imagine how much they paid him to join the Harris Campaign!

As with the economy, he’s taken a winning issue for him and enthusiastically flipped it into a loser. Now he’s backing down on deporting immigrants who work on farms and at hotels, angering his most rabid supporters. He’s actually really bad at politics, but tribalism keeps helping him win.

Civics4All @civics4all.bsky.social · 12/06/2025
The goalposts have moved so far that there is no longer accountability. Our system was designed for voters to be the ultimate check on corruption by voting out bad actors, but these days everyone is so tribal that we celebrate the bad actors, as long as they’re on our team. We have to fix this!

The national guard and military are Americans just like the rest of us. As I’ve been saying since November, we’re divided into thirds: 1/3 love what Trump is doing, 1/3 oppose him, and 1/3 aren’t following closely enough to choose a side. Assuming they’re all Nazis ignores allies within their ranks.

Yes, this is the world we find ourselves in. Uneducated voters put uneducated politicians into office who have bought into the lie that government is useless and only helps Democrats. When they try to kill programs and change laws to “own the libs,” they eventually find out they’re hurting everyone.

Couldn’t have said it better myself. Politics was never supposed to be the blood sport that we have made it into. It’s just a way to transfer power between opposing groups without resorting to violence. It’s a war avoidance tool that we’re supposed to use to solve societal problems. Crazy right?

Same. The primary he describes is the exact opposite of the serious, thoughtful leadership we will need to get out of this mess. And as someone who has worked every federal election since 2016, voting by smartphone is a TERRIBLE idea.

The truth is, political parties in the country are multimillion dollar business that pay consultants hundreds of thousands of dollars to tell them what to do. When they lose, they pay those same consultants more money to tell them why. Most of them haven’t talked to regular people in years.

In another life, I taught a class called Hip-Hop: Evolution and Impact that got mentioned by MTV. Those classes were just as much fun for me as they were for the students. We focused on the music, but we also watched a lot of videos that discussed dance and visual arts like graffiti. Fun times!

This is an unprecedented opportunity for Dems to reach out to rural voters. Reps can no longer blame their failures on Dems. They own this government and all of its failing policies. Here’s hoping all the culture war nonsense hits different when people’s savings, benefits, and jobs are affected.

What a ridiculously misleading headline! The article says Reps want Dems to try to impeach Trump as a boomerang strategy to motivate their voters for the midterms. Don’t want Kemp to win in GA, but it would be nice to have a non-MAGA Rep out there campaigning on refusing to kiss Trump’s ass.
