OKC Animal Welfare is teaming up with Hill’s Pet Nutrition for Hill’s “Home Sweet Homecoming” adoption campaign, now through Saturday, Oct. 3. During the campaign, adoption fees will be waived for eligible large dogs weighing 40 pounds or more. www.okc.gov/News-article...

Uptown closure: Westbound NW 23rd Street from Lee Avenue to Shartel Avenue is closed due to necessary road repair. The closure is anticipated to last 3-4 hours.

Oklahoma City’s Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center will be closed Friday, Sept. 25, for maintenance and will reopen Saturday, Sept. 26. The Center at 1621 S. Portland Ave. accepts items such as gasoline, batteries, pesticides, swimming pool chemicals and more.

Greetings from 2811 SE 29th Street and foster homes around the OKC metro. These pups and so many more want to meet you. OKC's Animal Shelter is reaching capacity and needs the community's help. Through Sept. 5, dog adoption fees are waived, including dogs in foster homes.

Downtown lane closures: Two northbound lanes will temporarily close on E.K. Gaylord Boulevard between Main Street and NW 3rd Street from Thursday, Aug. 27, through Thursday, Oct. 1, for utility relocation. Work will include pavement demolition, new conduit placement and replacement of paving.

After 35 years of service, Fire Chief Richard Kelley will retire Sept. 30. As the 21st Fire Chief in OKCFD history, he led the expansion to 38 stations and advanced firefighter safety, fire-based EMS, Whole Blood, MIH and the drone program. Thank you, Chief.
