It has more to do with the Russian culture of suffering and acceptance. Somehow for them prosperity is not really a priority. Just imagine what Putin could have done if he had invested all the money in infrastructure.

With Musk I'll believe it when I see it. He's made too many empty promisses that either never came true or took another 10 years so let's see.

In theory it can but let's see if it really will. I'm no expert but in my opinion the payload is all that matters. If it's heavy itself that's another thing. What would maybe make up for being so heavy is reusability. So far though only the boosters proved reusable.

No, not really. If you check it actually placed 30-50 tonnes of satellites.

I don't think he raised the rates just for fun. Shit is hitting the fan and the FED had to do something about it.

Who knows. It's not like we're any experts in this to be honest. It's certainly better than having an F-16 take it out with a gun which is happening these days. Even a heavier drone that can use some machine guns would be smaller and cheaper than an F-16.

MariusC @cirscc.bsky.social · 19/09/2026
Yeah but the drone can have some machine guns in theory. WW2 Spitfire like 😁

MariusC @cirscc.bsky.social · 19/09/2026
Most air-to-air missiles will cost no less than a drone. Even more perhaps. What you need if you want something cheap is some kinetic weapon on the drone. Some sort of machine gun.

Will you give assurances that it wasn't you who gave the drones and that you would never do it. He'll take your word for it because you never lie 🤥

Haha, exactly. I think most of the time was Putin rambling on about the history part to some people who can barely find things on the map.

Hitler knew the Russians quite well and he knew that if he doesn't break the pact then they will. He just was faster at not respecting the agreement than they were 😁

Exactly. What did Sony get out of this. You are happy, the customer is happy but Sony didn't get anything. Now suppose this was digital. Sony could see the transaction and get a cut, maybe even all of it. Sony is the one making the products and they want profit. As much as possible.

I am pretty sure it's mostly for propaganda reasons. Also given what happened in Crimea you have to be pretty stupid to buy such an apartment.... They are Russians I suppose

Depends very much on the model and the framework around it. Yes any AI will missbehave at one point but Sol and Fable 5 can actually help you get real work done. I've been a programmer for 17 years and I can tell you Sol writes decent C++ and even unit tests plus functional tests.

In my opinion the even bigger problem and thing most have in common is the tech stack. It's all Tailwind + React. Even for the simple landing page above the client was given such a proposal. Why ? Because that's what Lovable and maybe others generate. That's just how they prompt the models.

Here you go: smartmobila.com. Not Claude. Kimi K3 + Sol on Extra High. Yes, maybe some hints of AI here and there but honestly in my opinion it looks decent. Of course I cannot be objective. Client wanted a darker theme, I would have gone with light.

I looked once at Google Maps, a Russian border with China. China had a spiderweb of roads, near Vladivostok. Russia had one lousy road. China keeps developing while Russia fights for land they don't really need and cannot really manage properly anyway.

In Linux I just love how we're all a big community even though we have different preferences. For the iMac for instance I made ( using AI ) 5K to work under Linux. Some folks were using Gnome, I was testing on KDE. Some ported the fix to Ubuntu while I originally made it for CachyOS and so on.

What I miss most on recent Apple hardware even though I do understand the reasoning behind it is choice. On an older iMac if I don't want OS X I can put Linux or Windows ... On newer hardware not really. Linux also has a lot of choice for distros and desktops so that's cool for me.

MariusC @cirscc.bsky.social · 09/08/2026
It's a matter of taste. I can't really stand OS X myself. I grew up with Windows from Windows 3.11 onwards and even though I don't like Window itself I still like the old school Windows UI that KDE more or less maintained. I'm also a power user and programmer so Linux suits me better.

I'm also a big CachyOS fan. I've even benchmarked it against OS X on 2019 iMac and it was 10% faster.

I think Ukrainians will be just fine without Puma, there's always "Adibas" available in the markets 😂. Speaking as an Eastern European here.

We have a 21% VAT but still somehow prices are fine. It's about $70 for a 450W panel in the retail market.

MariusC @cirscc.bsky.social · 05/08/2026
I didn't think there were much taxes added. Yes importing from China is not ideal but in this case I think there's no real short term alternative. Only cheap solar will save us in the near term. Cheap solar is not something either the EU or the US can do for now though.

MariusC @cirscc.bsky.social · 05/08/2026
Here I bought the panels on the market at market prices. They were brought in directly through Amsterdam from China. Then a guy I knew personally came with a 2 man team and did the work. Done in 2 days.

Here in Romania I paid about $10 000 for my setup of panels ( 12 kW installed power ) + 20 kWh batteries. That includes materials and installing. It's not super cheap but I never understood why in USA it costs so much. With an EV and without grid export I'll break even in 4-5 years.

Partly because AI likes to use Supabase. I've seen it used by AI and it didn't understand to properly use RLS. Neither did the guy using the AI. If you are a bit careful or the AI is then it's quite easy to do it right with no security issues, probably easier than using your own DB.

Yeah but Ukraine is not the size or Russia and can relatively easily just import stuff directly from warehouses in neighbouring countries. It was anyway quite often done, stocks would be 0 in Ukraine and you would wait for the import from Poland.

I'm already too old to give a shit. I'm just happily using CachyOS and don't really care. Luckily though Linux is big enough now that most companies care about it and release software for it. Other than that I don't really care.

Tesla is probably worth no more than 100 given the current businesses so there's still room for a short. It will all depend on the stock market though, unless the bubble breaks the passive index funds will keep it afloat.
