Time for me to relive the entirety of my elementary school computer class all in one screen!!

Floppy controller entirely removed. Booted fully from network. Loaded game entirely from network. This is now one of the most awesome and advanced Apple IIe units in the entire world!! :D

Created a mounting plate for the MFM emulator to shove into the Corvus OmniDrive, so I'm not stressing out a 40yr old spinning relic anymore. And this also means I'll be more comfortable taking this setup to shows (VCF PNW !?) so others can play with NETWORK BOOTING AN APPLE IIE

"here are 50 different options with only vague descriptions and we wont really tell you what they cover unless you read the entirety of this 500 page manual with endless technical jargon that'll require external research since it is all vendor-specific terminology!"

Hey @floppyguy.bsky.social I can only assume this was your handy work?? :D

Of the BSDs, I personally only use FreeBSD. but I do use it extensively professionally. I've used a good amount of RedHat and Debian based distros professionally too, but I prefer my FreeBSD. It's been more reliably in the long term for my needs.

I'll be "That One FreeBSD Guy" showing up to the event! :D

Bad news, maybe some good news...? Something went wrong when I did this initial setup, it only used 1/4th the HDDs available space without the option to reclaim, so I have to start all over again. Good news, figured out how to actually copy software to the drive! #PROGRESS

I've been wanting to hit up Really Rad Weekend for a while now, but at least this year, it conflicts with a local event I do ever year :(

ADTPro - Make Apple IIe Floppies From Audio

I did a whole video on booting the Apple IIe from audio already! youtu.be/VAakJMnVQiY?...

It's a network card from the era. Not a modem. It's a 1mbps network.

000

Once I get the full process flushed out, I'll have a full video up on YouTube showcasing everything.

Yes, that's exactly what this is for. Load up disk images on the drive and the system still thinks they are on a floppy controller. And this is all 1980s tech!

They submitted an escalation ticket on my behalf tho to get the order canceled. Gotta love when front-line reps don't have any real authority to get shit done at all. Fkn love modern companies and their "support" I don't blame the rep at all, its all policy/procedure above them dictating.

Circuit Rewind @circuitrewind.com · 22/09/2026

No option to cancel order. Call phone number, automated system for "order status" is 100% automated, no option to talk to a human. Re-call phone number, select "NEW ORDER", wait 30 min on hold, only to be told THEY cannot cancel order either!

Circuit Rewind @circuitrewind.com · 22/09/2026

walp THAT was fun Tried to order a camera body from canon.com They have several old addresses in my account from previous orders. I delete em all, input my new address. Checkout page has new address. Order confirmation has old street name/number but new city/zip. WTF did they do !? LMFAO

Yesterday I decided to hop on over to the local camera store to pick up the Canon RF135mm F1.8 L IS USM, a lens I've wanted in my bag since the day it was announced. So here, have some artistic bullshit from a sample photo I captured with it! :D

I picked this GameBoy Printer up at PAX earlier this month. IT FREAGGIN WORKS

So I might have purchased a copy of Microsoft Office 97 from @repcwa.bsky.social today, because why the hell not!? Been eyeing for a while. Got the tools to make flux dumps of all the disks. And got the Win98 Retro Rig to run it on!

AAHHHH there we go, the simple "drag into applications" "installer" ;)

I've been away from Windows for so long at this point, I start to question myself when I see dialogs that look like that at this point ...

Ya, it got in my way trying to take this shot! They suck :P
