On October 2, CIPSS hosted a talk by Dr. Aaron Ettinger from Carleton University. How does Donald Trump use it for political differentiation and to mobilize supporters? Does this model travel abroad among far right politicians? Thank you to Dr. Ettinger and everyone for joining.

Our faculty member, Dr. T.V. Paul, presented work in progress on his new book project, which discusses how and why changes in great powers’ strategies occur. Of course, status recognition is central to this puzzle. We thank Professor Paul and look forward to seeing you next Friday!

It has been a pleasure hosting Dr. Ho-fung Hung together with the Centre for Global Chinese Studies (CGCS) on Friday. How has the US dollar kept its dominance in the world economy? The analysis draws from Dr. Ho-fung Hung's upcoming book, Greenback Empire (to be published in October 2026).
