The notion she's appealing because she's white Ram is one I always was hesitant on, on account of how poorly that'd reflect on some people. Yet if I'm hearing so much regarding queer communities struggling to accommodate people of color, then I guess it's not that far fetched of an idea, sadly.

The amount of people liking her as she currently is is likely to make ArcSys comfortable keeping her like that for the foreseeable future. I still want to believe in the potential of the character, yet it might risk popping the bubble she's been placed in, so I don't think they'll do much, sadly.

In fairness, she does appear when everyone on the planet is giving their spirit energy or whatever during the last episode, so at the very least we actually do see her breathing afterwards. Still doesn't change the fact most of her interactions only happen thanks to contrivances and assumptions.

My main solace is that it's given me something to talk about with close friends, who can articulate why I have these feelings better. That, and it hasn't deterred my drive to want to write more GG fics eventually (especially when they already were diverging from canon conceptually hahah).

Yes! I feel crazy whenever people push against this idea, but if that's now like 3 times in a row of them reiterating the same basic character journey Unika has with Bridget, that tells me they really have very little else in mind for them. And yet it works apparently, so what do I know.

Doubly sucks as a Bridget fan, cause I worry this is all she'll be dealing with going forward (both in-universe and in the fandom), and I just don't need that constant association between the two. I think I finally understand what some May fans had apparently felt for a while hahah.

I really want to be happy for the folks that enjoy what they do about her, yet if I've reached a point where the thoughts regarding all that is just making me crash out mentally, then I should just walk away from the fandom for now. GG Wiki folks are lovely, but I don't want to suddenly be a problem

I do agree that it's within the contrast in a relationship that you can get the most out of a ship, and admittedly you would have to make up a lot more on May's end to make it achievable. But since ArcSys doesn't want to budge with her, and I am less attached to other pairs, this is what I picked.

I understand we have three episodes + the arcade mode left to perhaps turn the tide on that, yet with how many key characters have yet to have that crucial of a role in the plot (and one would absolutely have some things to say to Unika), I figure the fans would have to pick up the slack from there.

Hey, I appreciate the answer! It's not like I'm ultimately opposed to Bunika, but I do find the current presentation quite underwhelming as is. Especially when Unika (in addition to mainly being defined by her connection to others) seems to care more for herself with every scene she has with Buri.

I think there's quite a bit of potential in terms of ways in which they could connect as characters, especially when it has been recently confirmed that they still are close friends. Is it something the franchise will ever acknowledge? No, but that doesn't mean you couldn't put the dots together.

Technically they did it twice! Sure, it was a more overt accident the first time, and the implication is more akin to crossdressing, but they kept it as is anyway! David Byrne also wrote a song about trans people in the 90s, which only has aged slightly better in comparison.
