You either get 10 months of pay over 10 months or 10 months of pay over 12 months. We still only get paid for 10 months no matter how it’s distributed.

One of the hardest thing to get people to understand is that teachers don’t get paid for the summer. We’re on furlough. Unpaid time off. Those who do get paid get ≈26% less per paycheck during 10 months to cover their summer pay.

The option was taken away in Chicago. We get paid over 10 months for 10 months of work. We just got them to make all the checks equal instead of only 5 days for winter break. (We only get paid for one week of the two week break).
