Anne Berger @cincy-mathanne.bsky.social · 04/09/2026I was in a classroom this week where a 5th grade student did a similar strategy but they would cut the first factor in half first then multiply that by 10 🤯. The way kids brains think when we let them!!! 000
Anne Berger @cincy-mathanne.bsky.social · 13/06/2025What a team of presenters! I’m so sad I’m missing it this year. Hoping @nctm.org does this collaboration again! 000
Anne Berger @cincy-mathanne.bsky.social · 12/03/2025I’m so excited it’s here! Seeing Pam Harris a couple of times recently speaking on some of the content of this book really has me excited for the potential this book holds to influence my work with teachers! 010
Anne Berger @cincy-mathanne.bsky.social · 05/03/2025It was a great day!! I got to see a dream I have had come to fruition. We worked with 40+ SW Ohio educators to deeply study the Foundations of Early Numeracy. I can’t wait to see where this work continues to grow to in the future. Special thanks to Deborah Peart and her messages we could share! 020
Anne Berger @cincy-mathanne.bsky.social · 01/03/2025I got to work w a district math ldshp team this week. We always start our time by doing a math task and positioning ourselves in the space Ss occupy everyday in our class. This time we used Cube nets vs cube nots from @playwyourmath.bsky.social it was accessible to all & lead to great discussions! 032
Anne Berger @cincy-mathanne.bsky.social · 23/02/2025Once again grabbing so many nuggets from one of my greatest math Ed colleagues @gfletchy.bsky.social during the @buildmathminds.bsky.social Virtual Math Summit. I can’t believe I got to spend time with Graham again for free through this conference! 010

Anne Berger @cincy-mathanne.bsky.social · 31/01/2025I have seen first hand the incredible discussions that have happened in this Ohio course for an Alg 2 alternative. And many Ss began to believe in their love for math again because of the learning in this course (and the T too). Make time to join this session at #NCTMKC25! 010
Anne Berger @cincy-mathanne.bsky.social · 24/01/2025It’s that time of year again!!! @buildmathminds.bsky.social Virtual Math Summit is Feb 22 & 23. If you haven’t seen the lineup of presenters take a look. It’s a fab list!! Also did I mention you have free access to the sessions? More info at virtualmathsummit.com 020
Anne Berger @cincy-mathanne.bsky.social · 13/01/2025(cont.) I’m going into this week with a new mantra that will forever guide my work in education! 000
Anne Berger @cincy-mathanne.bsky.social · 13/01/2025Attended a memorial service for an elem principal yesterday. What came through in every message was their “unwavering belief in others”. This is what education is all about. The unwavering belief in Ss. They CAN learn. They WILL learn. They DESERVE to learn and it is our job to guarantee that. 100
Anne Berger @cincy-mathanne.bsky.social · 10/12/2024Needing help from the elementary math community- have you ever seen a good lesson on writing add/sub problems vertically for the first time? I’m struggling to find a good example of how to introduce it and all of the complexities that come with it! TIA #iteachmath #mtbos 110
Anne Berger @cincy-mathanne.bsky.social · 22/11/2024I was talking with a 2 and 1 T the other day about how Ss struggle to see the count/add up strategy for sub. We were debating if Ss seeing number bonds with unknowns in all positions as fluency practice would help with them seeing that relationship with the numbers and in turn the operations. 000
Anne Berger @cincy-mathanne.bsky.social · 21/11/2024Recently I have been struggling with teachers telling Ss “we learn all these strategies and then you pick the one that works for you”. This then leads to them stacking and doing the traditional algorithm for 300-297. I want this conversation to turn into “pick the right strategy for the problem”! 020
Anne Berger @cincy-mathanne.bsky.social · 20/11/2024When working with a group of teachers if I want to have a deep conversation about math content, I LOVE to use a standard progression sort. The way they dive into the language deeply and pull out all the aspects of the standard language is amazing! 000
Anne Berger @cincy-mathanne.bsky.social · 15/11/2024Anyone know what’s going on with the “⚠️ Invalid Handle”? For some people it’s just in the handle but others it is their display name as well. 100
Anne Berger @cincy-mathanne.bsky.social · 13/11/2024I’m planning for a quick pd moment with a group of teachers I have a great working rltshp with. Anyone know of a quick video or image to show the downfalls of using the butterfly method (for comparing, equivalent, adding, dividing, proportions… take your pick!). TIA ♾️ 010
Anne Berger @cincy-mathanne.bsky.social · 10/11/2024Giving this new platform a try! Help me find our math Ed community on here! 140
