Youth with #IBD endorsing medical trauma report greater #diseaserelateddistress, anxiety, and depression independent of pharmacological treatment failure. In fact, potentially more easily preventable factors are identified as stressors. Trauma informed models of care are critical. #GIPsychology

We found disease activity was unrelated to youth-endorsed medical trauma, highlighting the complex nature of medical trauma in youth with IBD. Integrating disease-related distress assessment into care may identify at-risk youth and guide early intervention to support psychological resilience.
