Does anyone here get that impeachment *in 2027* does not mean conviction/removal? Because Senate numbers and math. 57 Senate votes. We won't have them, because GOP. Impeachment may still be worth doing, just to lay down a marker. For the rest, we need the Presidency too. Project 2029...

Jim Henson was born on this day in 1936.

Edward Hopper's 'Nighthawks', but the man and woman at the counter of the diner are now Fozzie and Miss Piggy. The guy with his back to us is now Bert, but Bert is being operated by Frank Oz, who is crouched down in front of the counter. The waiter/server is now Jim Henson who is looking intently at Kermit, and Kermit, who is occupying half of Jim's right arm, is looking intently at Jim. The diner is now called "JIMMYS".

I use em-dashes when I need a harder break than an ellipsis. They sound different in the mental "ear," especially in dialogue. Also, you *want* "short, punchy sentences" for high-tension scenes...action sequences, for example. That's not AI or bad writing. That's basic. Read aloud, you'll hear it.

I personally would like to see a return to the "norm" that the rule of law means something, and that Presidents are *not* above it. And the "norm" that federal judges/SC justices rule according to what the law actually says, and that DOJ attorneys don't lie for their (political) bosses.

Got to fix the MAGA Supreme Court first, or nothing good will be allowed to survive legal challenges (even when the plain letter of the law says it should). Slogans are one thing. (I'm an author, I know the value of good PR.) But a workable plan is far more necessary.

This cartoon is out of date...as of today, "Abolish ICE" is the official position of the Democratic Party. Formally adopted by the DNC. And good on them for doing it. Not that plenty of Democrats weren't already saying so...my state's (IL) governor, for one.

Agree. Racism and sexism (and all the bigot -isms) are separate, complicating factors to the perennial problem of *very* rich people wanting to rig things economically against average folks. The rich use them as tools to divide/conquer. You can't fix the rigging without addressing them as well.

I canvassed for her in her first election in IL. She's fantastic. Shows up, does her job, does it well, and doesn't make a big look-at-meee! deal of it. I don't live in her district (I'm in a neighboring one), but if I did, she'd have my vote.
