Michaelmas is another name for the Feast of St Michael and All Angels. Today, we commemorate St Michael and his role as a warrior and protector. We also give thanks for all angels, who are seen as messengers and servants of God, bridging the divine and human realms.
A classic painting depicts a winged figure in a dynamic pose, wearing ornate armor and holding a spear, standing triumphantly over a dark, defeated figure. The background is filled with swirling clouds and flames. Text overlay reads, "What is Michaelmas?

they may help and defend us on earth;
