A prayer of thanksgiving for education
Gracious God,
we thank you for the gift of education, for places of learning, for curious minds, and for all who help knowledge, wisdom and understanding to grow. We thank you for opportunities to learn throughout our lives, and for those who encourage us to become the people you call us to be. Bless all who teach and all who learn, that their gifts may enrich the whole community. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Merciful God,
you call us to live well together in love and understanding, yet we confess that we do not always do so. We have been quick to judge and slow to listen. We have allowed differences to divide us, and we have failed to treat others with the dignity and respect they deserve. Forgive us, renew us by your Spirit, and teach us to grow in humility, grace and compassion; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

A prayer for places where education is restricted
God of wisdom and truth,
we pray for children, young people and adults in communities around the world where education is restricted, denied or made difficult. Grant courage to those who long to learn, protection to those who teach, and justice where opportunities are unequal. Open doors that have been closed and help all people to share in the gift of learning. May knowledge, wisdom and hope flourish for the good of all; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
