Been absolutely absorbed in Valheim 1.0. In a solo offline map, I found a holy grail of a spot: mountaintop base with nearby dragon nest and inverted tower; black forest leading to a channel for a massive dock to ocean, swamp nearby; large plains coast with spot *on* mountaintop for fast farming!

The Northern part of a planned base - mountaintop overlooking black forest biome, which will be partially deforested to create a visible path to a shallow water channel which leads to the ocean, perfect for a large dock and ship yard. Adjacent is a mistlands biome with the connecting piece of land being free of any mist, creating a wide and scenic view before mist obscures the rest!

The Southern side of the planned base location, still on the mountaintop and close enough to the other location to form one large endgame base structure. This portion of the mountaintop converts to plains biome for farming, while overlooking more forest, the other side of the mistlands, a distant swamp biome, and a large plains coast overlooking the ocean. Very scenic!

Hurts me seeing Malfoid art; on one hand, it's like a psyop to get people "into" HP and supporting one of the worst creators in recent times - Rowling. I cannot easily explain to people who haven't played VR (as someone who waited until a year ago to try VR for the first time) what experiencing Half-Life: Alyx was like on a Quest 3, WiFi roomscale no cable, prescription lens inserts, max settings... "it's feeling the future, in the present." Magic.

Continuing to manifest Half-Life: Alyx 2 energy as an even more fleshed-out VR killer-app game because I think it's way, way funnier than releasing Half-Life 3. Also, honestly, Half-Life: Alyx stands beside Silent Hill 2, Mario 64, Super Metroid, and MegaMan 2 for me as generationally formative.

For the first time in a decade, I will be letting my FFXIV subscription lapse, letting go of FC and player housing, and taking a full, complete break. Prior to FFXIV I was on 1-2 other MMOs, and this is the first time in closer to 20 years that I will not have any active MMO. It feels weird.

Unpopular opinion: Homecoming has some wonderful setpieces, ambience, and creature/boss designs but was marred with too heavy a focus on combat, repurposing some characters and cliches from other games (and movies...) that did not belong, and in an era of "illusion of choice" linear storytelling.

Mentioning because a year prior I was in the trenches, and I took on additional responsibility. You don't have to hurt the budget of a responsible business to be fair, transparent, and supportive of others. That day I learned that my newer "boss" peers were sabotaging "certain people" into quitting.

I will never forget the day, as a supervisor, that our entire office discussed salaries and every other supervisor panicked and had to lie to cover wage disputes. I hired based on fact, paid evenly and fairly, and had no complaints from my department. Bosses who don't are biased, unfair, or bigoted.
