THE WICKER MAN (1973) Unexpectedly funny? The folk elements of it are way stronger than I thought they'd be. Christopher Lee absolutely GOATed in it. The ending is as legendary as it'd been hyped up to me, worth a watch for that alone.

THE OLD DARK HOUSE (1932) What if... there was an old dark house?!? That'd be fucked up. Perfect Halloween-y vibes here. Good balance of creepiness, cheesiness, and great craft. Fun "old hag" performance in there, too, I stan Rebecca Femm! Every other female character... dated writing abounds 😬

TETSUO: THE IRON MAN (1989) Jeez. Us. One of the most aggressive movies I've ever seen. The infamy of its gore is deserved; the makeup is spectacular. Really interesting experimental elements, but it's hard to recommend since it's SO loud, SO graphic, and honestly quite hard to keep pace with.

THE INNOCENTS (1961) Immaculate Gothic ghost story. Impeccable, unsettling atmosphere. Two A++ creepy kid performances. Staggeringly gorgeous B&W CinemaScope cinematography. Insane sound design. Immediately became, maybe, one of my favorite horror movies ever? Great start to Spooky Month!!!

Recently got to 1968's FUNNY GIRL, marking the end of 32 years and 13 BP nominees (with 3 wins!!) from director William Wyler. This guy's become one of my all-time favs, and I'm ITCHING to try and see everything else he directed one day!
