Weird book. Not funny at all. But still fairly recognizable as a Richard Russo novel.

I'm quite aware that nobody does any proofreading in academic publishing anymore, but I guess they've given up on it in trade circles as well?
Passage from Richard Russo novel Under the Falls, published by Knopf, using the word "grizzly" where "grisly" is meant.Passage from Biological War: A Scenario by About Jacobsen, published by Dutton, where the suggestion is made that Pandora's Box was something Pandora was trapped in rather than a box owned by Pandora.

I love nextdoor.
Local lunatic claims that AI only produces accurate information and won't guide people to some "fade or pseudo-science" only "pseudo" is spelled like "judo."

Zach Cherry and Paul Walter Hauser are both in the new Resident Evil but this is not good enough for me, I want a movie with the two of them headlining, playing brothers.

I don't know about this thesis but I can state definitively that every piece I've ever read by David Brooks has made me think less of that particular human.

I find it implausible to believe that Mason Thames, who plays the lead singer of a crappy band in an upcoming movie, is not Devon Bostick, who played the lead singer of a crappy band in a movie a couple of years ago.

Why are people still writing articles like this? Donald Trump does not now care and has never in the past cared about any stated policy goals. How has that still not sunk in for everyone?
Guardian headline saying "If Trump really cares about blah blah blah"--it doesn't matter, because of course Trump doesn't care about anything that's not Trump making money or Trump making other people miserable

Stanford neuroscientist Robert Sapolsky seems to have a different opinion about the effects of testosterone on the brain than does former Fox News host Pete Hegseth. I wonder which one is more likely to be correct.

I took the jacket off this book and somehow didn't look too closely at the title page and all along I've been thinking "Wow, how did she get these quotes? This would all be so over-the-top if it was fiction! Unreal!" I literally tried googling the family in the story before I realized it's a novel.
