I worked in full time retail for 6.5 years. It grueling, underpaid, thankless work. I worked for one of the better retail employers too. Still sucked shit all the time. Always felt ashamed, and folks often made me feel ashamed. I go out of my way now to be kind to anyone in a service level job.

I think about meds ai have to take to be functional as a person. Even in a small scale event, I would imagine the shortage of those meds alone, to say nothing of the actual radiation, would make my life not worth it.

Mars attacks still ducks me up a bit, not gonna lie. As for War of The Worlds, the 1953 version and the radio versions are just so good. I’m always impressed that the radio plays caused a panic each time they did it.

It’s indeed sad. Having cared for a family member with ALS I’ll say this, it’s better for them to go sooner than later. it’s awful no matter what, but long fights against ALS are basically torture on the person enduring it.

Practical effect can hold up so well, I love them so much. I took a friend of mine who’s a surgeon to see The Thing at the local indie theatre a few years back. The defibrillator scene scared her so much she still thinks about it when she has to use the paddles at work.
