Any Java/Kotlin nerds heading to Devoxx Belgium this October? 👀 I’ll be at the JetBrains booth, and I’d especially love to meet people building IntelliJ Platform plugins or working on IDE extensibility. Come say hi and tell me what you’re building 🤓

What if IntelliJ IDEA and WebStorm could gray out unused object properties in JavaScript/TypeScript? Useful? Annoying? Surprisingly handy? Thinking about shipping this inspection — and maybe live-streaming how it’s built. Would you use it?

OK, that’s really cool - Spotify introduced DJ X, your AI assistant for composing a playlist that you’re going to listen to in the current session. It behaves also like a radio presenter, describing what you just discovered and what’s up next. Spotify, good job on that!

I made a macOS screensaver inspired by JetBrains CAI's Noise Terrain animation. 🎉 It started as a web-based animation from Computational Arts Initiative team, translated cleanly into Kotlin Compose, then became a real screensaver using @zsmb.co's ScreenSaver project. 🔥 Download: jb.gg/screensaver

IntelliJ Platform Gradle Plugin 2.14.0 is not a casual upgrade. I’m live tonight at 9 PM CEST / 3 PM EDT on Twitch, X, and YouTube to break down the release, the breaking changes, and the features that matter. I’ll also update the Plugin Template to see what the new setup really looks like.

The best plugin ideas are often painfully unglamorous. Not "AI for everything." More like "remove one annoying team-specific mistake" or "turn 6 clicks into 1" If a plugin kills a tiny repeated friction point, people will keep using it.

That’s not software, but it’s still good kind of development. I found my thing! — a jump rope — only earlier this year. I’m not good at it yet, no tricks, but after twenty-something years in tech, I know it’s all about consistency. Keep it up, whatever your drill is! 🙌
