I'm not that excited about it anyway and actually the one he did with Watt was the best of his solo songs

I really wish I had asked Peter about this when I spoke to him last week that would have been hilarious 😂

This is exactly right, I never got to see early or even mid period r.e.m. and this is as close as I will get to that. As someone who doesn't like tribute bands this is more like a celebration and it's magical

Peter Buck's set up on current tour. Just the two ricks think he had a Gibsonas well for US tour and fairly minimal peddle board

I've seen him twice, I think one of them was when you saw them he was incredible. The other your time it was one of the dullest sets I've ever seen which was a shame as it was for modern guilt which is my favourite beck album

For all its faults it does have a couple of great songs and remember Leaving New York being played on radio for first time and desperately trying to find a lay-by to park into listen to it. And then recently playing it in departure lounge at JFK

The last three are a similar level to me, that's not to say there are not some terrific tracks amongst them just the albums as a whole are much less consistent but what other band has 12 top quality albums in a row 🤷‍♂️

Chronictown83 @chronictown83.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

I remember they played some of it live I think before it came out at at James church I think and the new songs sounded fairly good but it just didn't live up to it

120

Chronictown83 @chronictown83.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

Yeah it's not the best but has some good memories attached to it and being at university at the time. The tour was great as well saw them 3 times on it
