They have the same team who did all of G5 back again for the new series. I really hated G5's writing, but I couldn't tell whether it was bad because of the writers or because of the corporate meddling. No Netflix going forwards is a huge boon, though. I don't hold zero faith, but I feel... cautious.

9 minutes is a very narrow timeframe, yes. You can do a lot in 9 minutes, but I think the issue in disappointment I see is that Hasbro was hyping it up to be this big huge thing when it's just another webisode series. I'm chill with that. My main worry though is the writing...

I'd be down for a Monster/Pony-of-the-Day series, somewhat akin to FiM S1. I think that'd be fun and fit the 9-minute format well. They call it an "emotions-first" series, though, so I really have no clue what they'll actually be doing. As for my worries though...

Rarity and AJ taking a backseat I genuinely don't mind that much. For the nine-minute format, having a smaller cast of MCs is a good thing! They'll be there as supporting cast all the same, which if I'm reading things correctly, seems to be part of the show's main pitch?

Change in VAs is perfectly good. I was hoping for Rebecca Shoichet to voice Twilight, as I'm highly biased, but this new cast seems perfectly good. Twilight's voice is gonna take some getting used to, though. They seem to click with each other and care for the series which is a good sign.

Starting with the good, there's a reason I tried to replicate the artstyle. It seems like they got the guy who did the art for Spyro Reignited, which is a really good pick for a series said to lean more into fantasy (no smartphones thank god!!). Excited to see the way the actual show looks!

Okay time for G6 thoughts. After digesting everything for a little here, I remain... cautiously optimistic. The key art is fantastic, the designs are really nice, and the VAs sound like they really care. I worry about the format and writing, however.

I hope Faust and her team can make something good. As long as they only have to deal with Hasbro's corporate image and not Netflix's terrible time crunches, I'm holding out some hope.

I wasn't able to watch much of G5. I gave it several shots as honestly as I could. I love the character designs. I want to like the show, but it's so riddled with corporate meddling on all fronts that it wasn't ever given a chance. It's just bad.

I just want people to take in part both their emotions towards a piece of media as well as understanding what it is saying. If you think that it should've been more explicit, then sure. Just don't say Gooseworx deserves to be harrassed because she wasn't explicit enough when it's not the point.

I want less subtlety too, trust me. holy fuck I just want more good rep. but this is the first piece of media I've seen to make honest use of that subtlety and is one of the best pieces of transgender rep in any piece of media yet, all because it explores a side people generally aren't willing to.

and look, I get it. I fucking get it. I want trans women to be happy in media too. This is not a show with a happy ending; it's made out of silver linings, like real life, like *losing someone* in real life. At the absolute least, irl Jax gets to discover herself at her own pace.

The fact it isn't explicit is the point. The secret of being transgender is one of the most gut-wrenching things to hold. This feeling pushes people to do horrible, horrible things. Jax cannot say it out loud because she is *dead* before she can. It is only too late if you are dead.

seeing people upset that Jax is "too subtle" makes me very very upset because this is the first piece of media at this scale of popularity to utilize that subtlety to its advantage. Especially when words of being able to "sell to russia" or whatever are shoved in Glitch and Gooseworx's mouth.
