I don't enjoy the trip out to Costo, but the idea that they only sell giant packages to fill giant SUVs is a myth, unless you've wandered into a Costco Business Center by mistake. I don't see anything virtuous about paying inflated prices at the Loblaws closer to my house.

New arena being built in downtown Ottawa, on what used to be a grassy hill open to the public. Early version shows a green roof to help sell the project (inaccessible to public, mind you). Later it's quietly, predictably replaced with just a literal green roof.

In some places in Europe it can be a lot worse! Friend recently flew out of Copenhagen and he was in the departure passport control line for 2 hours. People were being pulled out of the line if they were about to miss a flight. Apparently the wait varies a lot one day to the next.
