Black text on a white page that reads as follows:

Too often, homeless New Yorkers cycle from our hospitals to our streets — making it harder to continue treatment and find long-term stability.

The City's Bridge to Home program in Manhattan ends the cycle by providing a safe place for New Yorkers to live while they receive medical care, apply to jobs, and find an apartment. The program has been a massive success.

Today, we’re expanding Bridge to Home to Brooklyn and Queens, so more New Yorkers get the help they need.

This is going to be a thread of AI greenwashing getting pumped out at New York Climate Week Here's one from today: Siemens, raking in MOUNTAINS of $$ from selling gas turbines to data centres (not mentioned) says: “we are racing to mitigate this as fast as possible" apnews.com/article/clim...
On the other hand, Eva Riesenhuber, the head of sustainability at the German automation company Siemens, and Evelyn Wang, vice president for energy and climate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, said AI is too important to humanity and will help tackle climate change.

Data centers adding to climate and water problems “is not forever,” according to Wang, who told The Associated Press that data centers are five years away from being water neutral and about a decade away from no longer adding to planet-warming emissions.

Acknowledging these concerns, Riesenhuber said “we are racing to mitigate this as fast as possible because we are hooked on the intelligence, and we do need the intelligence to design the future that this planet needs.”a chart showing siemens gas turbine sales will add emissions the equivalent to pakistan

That's unacceptable.

During the big waves of privatisation in the 1980s and 1990s, the debate was framed around who can manage production more efficiently, the state or capital. Everyone bought into this frame and we forgot the more important question, which is who gets to decide what is produced, and for whose benefit.

Researchers urge governments to help worst afflicted countries, such as Nigeria and Algeria, which rely on oil revenues for public services Conflict, migration and economic upheaval will accompany the global move away from oil, unless governments act urgently to help the worst afflicted countries to cope, research has found. Nigeria, Iran, Angola and Algeria are among the countries that will be severely affected, as they rely strongly on oil revenues for their government and provision of public services, but have little diversification and too little capital to cushion the blow.
