And with the key Holborn & St. Pancras by-election… tomorrow is it? How about that? Incredible coincidence.

Wow, what a coincidence. The Labour leader of Brighton City Council who own the Brighton Centre decides that the Greens are against inclusion; in a way which creates further negative headlines about the Green Party. Greens face conference centre ban over Zionism motion www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Pedro Sanchez called a snap election last time too I think, and won. Really hope the same can happen again, because Spain has been essentially the last bastion of social democratic / socialist culture in Europe (and maybe the world at this point). The best outcome would be if the left of Sanchez…

And apartheid for so long. I think it’s more likely to help the party than hurt. Unless the more centrist MPs kick up a fuss. If they all come together and back the policy; then it’ll be fine. But we’ll see. And even then, it’s the right direction for the party. We might need some new MPs. So what?

represent all Jews within the party. And of course the chief Rabbi will make his usual condemnation of Jeremy Corbyn, Zack Polanski and the socialist left in general. Fuck him. We’re about peace. That’s fundamentally what it’s about. They don’t have a leg to stand on of course when it’s genocide.

Chris Till @christill.org · 04/10/2026
I mean it’s unlikely to hurt the Greens really like you said. Maybe will scare off a few would be Green voters who are happy with Burnham fighting neoliberalism with neoliberalism. But yeah the BBC are desperate to talk to any Jewish members who can give them a sob story and make it look like they..

A state all about everyone living together in peace. Maybe then we can as a world, start to move on to a more peaceful existance in general. One in which we actually deal with the climate crisis properly; and not just paying lip service to action (or being outright deniers).

Chris Till @christill.org · 04/10/2026
The BBC were really quick to report this one funnily enough. Usually they’re pretty lax when it comes to speedy reporting about the Greens. But I don’t care. Bring on the attacks. Let’s see that one (Palestine) state. Green Party members back 'Zionism is racism' motion www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Obviously, it’s a disingenuous media line, as is the supposed controversy about the Zionism is racism policy vote, and so on. But the choice not to repeat Greens’ ambition to replace Labour was the only obvious own-goal at the conference.
000
Chris Till @christill.org · 04/10/2026
Watching Jenny Jones being interviewed on Sky really emphasises how much of a mistake it was for Zack to not reiterate last year’s statement that Greens aim to replace Labour. By not doing that; they’ve opened themselves up to mainstream media questioning about a perceived reduction of ambition.

Chris Till @christill.org · 02/10/2026

Watching some clips on Instagram of the big moments of the speech, I remember there were a lot of them. The Palestine part was one that stood out. I guess there were a lot of moments; but perhaps none the mainstream media would default to playing on repeat for the rest of the day like last year.
000
Chris Till @christill.org · 02/10/2026
But for me, it was still a great speech filled with a lot of stuff that a lot of people in this country would appreciate. Zack makes Burnham look self obsessed and out of touch by comparison. Zack really gets how bad the daily struggle for so many people is. Labour have no answe to that at all.

Chris Till @christill.org · 02/10/2026
Thinking about it a bit more; I think Zack Polanski probably should have been clear that the Greens are still out to replace Labour; and the fact that Labour are being pushed left by the Greens is a sign that they’re going to replace them in time. Not, as the MSM are reporting, that they want…

It wasn’t really about a pick though. He just said he was waiting for a London seat to run in, and a London seat came up.

Chris Till @christill.org · 01/10/2026
He has his speech tomorrow at the conference, so that will probably help. Plus, as time goes on, it probably favors him more. Plus, if he didn’t stand in a London seat when he was criticised by the right for not standing himself in prior by-elections would give GBN and others an easy attack line.

Chris Till @christill.org · 01/10/2026
I didn’t realise. That makes it sound a lot better. But I’ll still be disappointed if it isn’t closer than this. That’s just how I’m always going to be. Probably never going to be satisfied at this point given the urgency of our climate crisis, and the slow / too late growth of the left in the UK.

I think honestly guilotine is probably less bad, because it’s most likely instant, and nothing can go wrong with it. Lethal injection can go very wrong and cause significant suffering.

Firstly, all death sentences are wrong and inhumane, and should be stopped forever. But on top of that, I find the idea that lethal injection is a less bad way compared to others is also weird. US death row inmate survives execution attempt after two lethal injections www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Although speaking of Marx, I have been meaning to read Kohei Saito’s books on Degrowth Communism where he talks about Marx in the Anthroposcene. I don’t really get why I deserved to be criticised for saying Polanski and Corbyn are better than Burnham though. Seemed very excessive to say that to me.
000
Chris Till @christill.org · 30/09/2026
quite a lot with them and would go a lot further. (For example on rent controls. I’d ban landlords for a start obviously.) But anyway I’m not really interested in an argument. It’s hardly productive since we’re basically on the same side I guess. Although you were criticising me initially.

recently. I also didn’t like the restrictive feeling. I don’t see myself as that type of traditional communist. I see myself more at home as a Green or in a Deep Ecology party, if we get one here. Anyway I just want to be pragmatic and vote for the Greens for the forseeable, even if I disagree…

I did try to join the Communist Party at one point a couple of years ago. When they said I had to read Marx and pass a test or something to join, I decided it wasn’t for me lol. I’m not against reading Marx. But it would be a lot to jump straight into given my lack of reading long, technical books…

I did read your bio. At first, I was confused as I thought you were a socialist. Then I concluded you were probably more a centrist who wants a two-state solution. I think I might have had a similar argument to this with you before. No point rehashing it. I’m an ideological degrowth communist. Done

Chris Till @christill.org · 29/09/2026
Obviously they haven’t been in power. Do I need to spell that out for you to be able to understand my point or something? Do you not have enough brain cells to be able to comprehend the ability of a party to offer voters non-sticking plaster politicies without actually getting into power?
100
Chris Till @christill.org · 29/09/2026
And actually, I know it goes back way longer than that. Before Thatcher for sure. A very long time since we had politicians actually delivering good social democratic policy for the people.
000
Chris Till @christill.org · 29/09/2026
Burnham had the gall to say he gave voters / viewers honesty. That’s a crazy thing to say given he just offered literal “sticking plaster politics”. The thing they always say they want to avoid but never do (except the Greens, and Labour under Corbyn). At least in my life.

As far as I heard, he said his grandmother’s experience of the broken care system was his main motivation for trying to reform the system. Did I misunderstand that?

Oh he actually called it National Care Service. Cool. I support an NCS; but not at the expense of pensioners. From the wealthy; and through borrowing.

Chris Till @christill.org · 29/09/2026
I think it’s interesting that Burnham talks about a sort of “National Care Service” as being his own personal pet project because the current / older system bit his own family hard. It’s like all the right wingers. They only care if it impacts them personally. They only have fake empathy otherwise.
