I'm trying to locate these original paintings - I didn't write down who had purchased them from me at the time. Purchased in Ottawa about 20 -25 years ago. I'm wondering if anyone has either, could you let me know? Thank you.

Bog Laurel. It grows in similar locations as Muskego/Labrador Tea. The differences are that bog laurel have shiny leaves compared to the mat leaves of the tea and the underside of Labrador Tea are furry white and/or rust colour. Important distinction as this one is toxic and not to be consumed.

I don't care one iota about Trump "chickening out" - what I care about is that he is about to piss a golden dome shower all over North America and ask Canadians and Indigenous people to foot the bill for half of it.

I understand the stakes of this coming election. But what I can't get behind is the Liberals allowing Canadian made weapons components to be used by Israel in the on going genocide against Palestinian people. (Don't @ me about who to vote for here, I already know PP is a disaster).

Smiling from ear to ear. I got this in the mail today. Granny Victoria Belcourt Callihoo - on the cover- an incredible matriarch. Her sister is my great great grandma. My late grandma would go visit her as so many did. Older women in our community are highly respected, especially from other women.
Cover of the book Metis Matriarchs by Cheryl Troupe and Doris Jeanne MacKinnon. Featuring a photograph of the late Victoria Belcourt Callihoo, a Metis matriarch from Lac Ste Anne who lived to be over 100 and wrote about her memories of the buffalo hunts.

Absolutely fantastic book. Highly recommend. (And as a painter, and someone who is constantly doing something with my hands, I LOVE it when authors record their own audio books.)

Valentino directly copied a Metis, Cree and/or Dene historical bag and passed it off as their own design. I’m disgusted my name and work was associated with theirs in 2016. I rebuke their designers as devoid of originality and creativity. They are sloppy and “mine” other cultures to steal work from.
Valentino model in white dress against ruffled green background on mauve carpet with a shoulder back that has the exact ripped off copy of beadwork from a historical bag. Next photo will say more.
The original beaded bag was listed as “Cree bandolier bag” for auction. It is a historical bag covered in seed beads in a floral patterns of the Metis or Cree or Dene people. It is on black trade wool with long straps also beaded and red wool tassels hanging from it.

Of all the kids in the child ‘welfare’ system in Canada, 53.7% are Indigenous children despite being only 7.7% of the total number of children in Canada. In Manitoba, Indigenous kids are 90% of all children in child welfare. In Alberta it’s 70%.

Non stop Neil Young on the turntable in the studio today. I saw Neil Young in Syracuse NY about 42 years ago or so. Took a bus from Ottawa to go see him. I was in the bleachers and there were no big TV monitors like there are now so I didn’t really see him lol but I heard him. I’ve always loved him.
Album cover titled Decade: Neil Young. A triple album. Image shows a person with arms outstretched sitting on dried ground. They are facing the sun. A guitar case with stickers on means on their head.

There are more chickens on the earth than ALL wild animals combined. The suffering in factory farms is something I don’t want to consume or contribute to, and neither to climate change. It’s why I avoid all grocery store meat &fish. Capitalism degrades all life on earth to commodities.
Pie graph titled Biomass of All Land Animals on Earth showing three categories: Humans, All the wild animals that still exist and Livestock. Approx 65% is shown as “livestock”; approx 30% or a little less are humans. And less than 10% are wild animals. About 50 Million bison were purposely murdered in order to starve Indigenous people to steal the land. Starvation as a tactic to steal land and commit genocide is well documented here. Free Palestine 🇵🇸 and may your olive groves flourish again for your children in a land that knows freedom.
