🇪🇺🇩🇪 Quite conservative about the liberal democratic order, rather liberal about everything else FDGO Stan account Too scared and/or stupid to ask if my employer shares these opinions. Yours probably should though.

I don't like that the answer to "how can I fix the data problems I am having with this niche source that I am trying to use in unique ways" is now defaulting to "creating a custom python and/or R package"

This sort of feels like the platonic ideal where LLM assistance enabling someone to better express their thoughts with less effort has functionally no downsides? None of the usual concerns if this was a more commerical/professional context apply where originality, ownership etc would pose problems.

Watching Babylon Berlin while visiting family, and it's a great reminder why I really cannot stand historical fiction that inserts itself at the centre of events. I cannot in fact take seriously a plot about a psychiatrist's race to fell Hitler in early 33 based on his medical notes from 1918???

Tbf I can see how that particular example might be less eye-raising than other stuff, considering dropping absolutely insane statements about the "enlightened" norms of their societies around obvious sex crimes is a sci fi staple.

Maybe my favourite thing is that all of this was originally motivated by the idea of mapping out in detail which long term spending item came into the SVIK and which one came into a fluffer (KTF) I'm incredibly glad none of my colleagues have the cursed knowledge about Sankeys...

Maybe this is a particularly German bias, but I feel like regional experts in our language have a habit of overstating the (causal) role of Israel ahead of the fall of Assad in ways that are deeply incongruous with its role afterwards, even if they are clear eyed about the latter.

This is mostly true, but I feel like the more fundamental issue ends up being that said dominant quarter of the union's government is not just primus inter pares but also the government of the entire union. This kind of unionism just seems like a tough sell without also doing federalism.

I don't actually think for all his faults the result here is primarily down to Merz's leadership, but I can't say that I dislike Wüst taking this and hopefully every future opportunity to question it.

I think this year's German healthcare reform is poorly designed, creates bad incentives on the supply side, and will make the same quality of care more expensive for patients by restricting insurance coverage, but jfc doctors etc among family and friends are negatively polarising me to support it

If you have a multiple choice question where you may pick only one answer and there are duplicate answers, do you: a) ask which of the duplicates to pick b) ask which of the duplicates to pick c) correctly surmise it cannot be the duplicates since we aren't announcing an error d) complain repeatedly

Having 2 out of like 200 people drop out of an exam due to vertigo and migranes induced by the horrendously bad air in the exam hall, despite the weather outside not even being that awful anymore, should maybe lead the uni/state to reconsider the need for AC, right? Right? Lol. Lmao.
