My Yankees contempt is not just that of a Day 1 Rays fan who resented their takeover of the Trop my whole life. It’s also the resentment of someone who lived in NYC for 12 years and became a Mets fan.

The moment Schlittler left the game. Def more Rays fans here than Yankees. But the Yankees fan to the left of me and two in front me have already left. And another one has turned to smoking pot. #Rays #Yankees

Passed the Trop in the Uber on the way back from the airport, my vacation now behind me. Little did I know that Drew Rasmussen was pitching a no-hitter there through 7! #Rays #RaysUp

My flight out of Tampa arrived from Minneapolis, and a parade of Vikings fans in their gear disembarked. It’s going to be a sea of purple at RayJay this Sunday. #Bucs

I've had a lot of fun these first 9 months at @tampabaytimes.bsky.social, but this was a particular highlight: Our judging panel of a kids' drawing contest of Waddles the Pig, an area celebrity, captured in fly-on-the-wall video by my team member Justin Seecharan. www.youtube.com/watch?v=TK9d...

I’m so excited to be going on my biggest vacation in EIGHT YEARS as of next Friday, the 25th. A few days in Yellowstone National Park, followed by a few days in San Francisco. Both places I’ve never been. Just the perfect nature/urban combination, I think.

Deeply moved by the 9/11 25th anniversary. One moment I kept coming back to this week was fire chief Joseph Pfeifer diligently looking for a gas leak in the final moments before the world changed forever.

My first-grade self was obsessed with the idea of Kumba at Busch Gardens. I memorized the track layout... then never actually rode it. Well, I finally did 33 years later at 40. Call it my "turning 40" crisis! www.tampabay.com/culture/ente...

As a kid, I loved Kumba from afar. At 40, I finally took a ride
My “turning 40” crisis was a need to ride the Busch Gardens coaster before it closes for good Aug. 2.

I've worked at places that published great "What's the best format to see 'this movie'" articles — looking at you Jim Hemphill — but this deeply-reported look at the different ways to watch #TheOdyssey by Christopher Spata is one of the best I've read. www.tampabay.com/life-culture...

An epic ‘Odyssey’ deserves an epic movie screen. Does Tampa Bay have one?
Christopher Nolan’s newest film has movie fans seeking IMAX screens and 70mm film projectors.

I used to see movies multiple times in the theater quite often... but it's been a long time since I've done that. Not since "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood," which I saw three times while it was on the big screen. "The Odyssey" will be the first to have that honor since then.

This 24-hour #DisneyCelebratesAmerica lineup is the kind of flex I didn't think any of the national media outlets were capable of any longer. ABC News on an absolute roll with this today: Worth tuning into its "Seven Wonders of America" show that aired this afternoon.

My mom this evening. This is a special anniversary. Today marks 50 years since she first set foot on her beloved St. Pete Beach. The moment she laid eyes on it, she fell in love with it and thought it was like heaven on earth.

We went through the Tampa Bay Times archive to find some of Michael Jackson's local appearances. Our 1971 review of a Jackson 5 concert said it went over better than the Janis Joplin show a couple years earlier that resulted in her being led away in handcuffs! www.tampabay.com/culture/2026...

I talked to David Borenstein, who won the best documentary feature Oscar for "Mr. Nobody Against Putin" this past Sunday. He's from Florida, and he sees real connections between Russia and events in the Sunshine State the past few years.

One of these guys is now an Oscar winner! Not working for a film outlet any longer means truly being able to just enjoy the Oscars. And it's meant a lot of reflection about some of the incredible people I've crossed paths with over the years who've won tonight. Such as this guy, Michael B. Jordan.

Only real quibble with Chalamet is his use of the word “relevant.” I mean, “Don Giovanni” is still being performed 250 years later. “Marty Supreme” will be long forgotten by that mark. But are opera and ballet niche art forms under existential threat? Yes. So is cinema.

“Miroirs No. 3” might actually even be better than “Undine” or “Afire.” Petzold’s on a hot streak unmatched in world cinema right now. Phenomenal to have this at the Gasparilla Film Festival in Tampa today.

One of the strongest International Feature races in recent #Oscars memory, but I'll just say that "It Was Just an Accident" goes a long way to explaining why the Iranian people cheered the Ayatollah's death. And "The Secret Agent" is probably the year's best film full-stop.
