My brother's sweet doggo Asta actually has TWO eyes, but alas, she cannot read. Unlike you, she cannot enjoy the just-dropped issue of one of the oldest and best lit mags on the 'Net, Eclectica. There's poetry, all kinds of prose, & a writing challenge every issue. Read it to her? Eclectica.org

COVER REVEAL for my first full-length collection of poetry in way too many years, Why I Don't Take Xanax®, on Kelsay Books. You'll find my Rattle poems therein, as well as lots of poems about the 70's, drunken squirrels, and, oddly, hope. Written by a fully vaxxed poet! Out later this winter.

This lucky poet has two books coming out this fall/winter. First up is my chapbook from Bottlecap Press, Before The World Was On Fire. It's about growing up in the 60's and 70's, and being an old gal in the 20's. And how you get through everything with the power of the word.

"This airplane flies on collective exhales," the pilot announces. "Please breathe together."

We practice. The plane shudders, lifts slightly.

"Think light thoughts," she adds.

A child giggles. We rise ten feet. Someone remembers their wedding—twenty feet. The couple beside me kisses—we're airborne.

"What happens if we panic?"

"We land," she says. "But we always take off again."

Below, other planes circle, waiting for their passengers to synchronize hope.

This is beyond cruel, especially for young folks who are going through it. Cutting off LGBTQ+ youth from specialized suicide prevention help is a death sentence disguised as bureaucracy. Shame on every official who signed off on this. You’re not protecting children, you’re abandoning them.
