From the inbox: strong Clean Power PA statement on PJM's 2028–2029 capacity auction results today
Clean Power PA Statement on PJM's 2028–2029 Capacity Auction Results
STATEWIDE – Following today's release of PJM Interconnection's capacity auction results for the 2028–2029 delivery year, which cleared at $325/MW-day, at the Shapiro-negotiated price cap and again fell short of PJM's reserve requirement, Clean Power PA released the following statement from coalition Chair Katie Blume:

"Today's results are more of the same: high prices driven by surging data center demand, and a grid that's getting less reliable, not more. The Shapiro-negotiated price cap is the only thing standing between Pennsylvania families and even steeper increases. While it has already saved consumers nearly $13 billion over the last two auctions, a cap doesn't add a single megawatt of new supply or fix what's broken at PJM.

"Pennsylvanians are already paying an extra $220 to $320 a year — $1.2 billion and counting — not because they're using more electricity, but because PJM's broken process can't connect cheaper clean energy fast enough and lets big new users shift their costs onto everyone else.

"The fix is clear: make data centers pay their fair share, clear the backlog of low-cost wind, solar, and storage waiting to connect, and stop propping up expensive false solutions. PJM needs to focus on lowering bills for families, and the data center boom can't be the excuse for higher ones."

Section 4 of the 25th Amendment to the US Constitution, ratified into law by the states in February 1967

Section 4:

Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.

Thereafter, when the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that no inability exists, he shall resume the powers and duties of his office unless the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive department or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit within four days to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. Thereupon Congress shall decide the issue, assembling within forty-eight hours for that purpose if not in session. If the Congress, within twenty-one days after receipt of the latter written declaration, or, if Congress is not in session, within twenty-one days after Congress is required to assemble, determines by two-thirds vote of both Houses that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall continue to discharge the same as Acting President; otherwise, the President shall resume the powers and duties of his office.

Incredibly damning consecutive posts in my feed. Someone is profiting, illegally and bigly, over global economic misery hitting untold millions of families.
Two consecutive BlueSky posts.
In the first one, Bill Grueskin writes: "Someone of someones made $580,000,000 in exquisitely well-timed oil trades that took place 15 minutes before Trump's dubiously optimistic post about the negotiations with Iran." Grueskin is commenting on a Financial Times headline that states "Traders placed $580mn in oil beats ahead of Donald Trump's social media post on Iran talks"

In the second one, PBS News reports: "As gas prices remain high, people around the globe are stretching their paychecks, giving up small comforts as everyday costs bloat and they try to keep up with their biggest bills"

Everything in this Washington Post paragraph about the $134 billion the federal government collected in illegitimate import taxes and that money's fate shows how fundamentally broken the system is. It's hurting the American people and small businesses. It's a system for grifters. wapo.st/3MTszRe
The prospect of lengthy legal battles or procedural backlogs at customs brokers may cause some importers to sell their refund rights to hedge funds in return for immediate cash, said Salvatore Stile II, a customs broker in New York. The hedge funds could buy the refund claims at a discount and profit once the government ultimately paid, mirroring a trade some investors engaged in during the months before the court decision.

U.S. Rep. Lloyd Smucker's statement from today's E-Newsletter on the U.S. military strike on Iran
Statement on Targeted Strikes to Neutralize Iran's Nuclear Enrichment

God Bless the United States Armed Forces. The precision strike to destroy Iran’s nuclear capabilities makes the world a safer place. Iran, the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism, for years, has blatantly ignored the international community’s call for a diplomatic solution. The world now knows that President Trump means what he says. After Iran was afforded every opportunity for peaceful resolution, this limited and targeted military action was warranted.
