Seems there been a shift over the last decade in prospecting college second basemen. When I first started covering baseball the prospects of a true 2B were dim. Meant you couldn’t field at a high enough level, bc if so you’d be a SS, and you likely didn’t have the bat to move to the OF. Now not so.

With Oregon, Nebraska and Indiana all ranked, I wondered if there were teams that had all three on their conference schedule. First school I looked at was Iowa, and yep, the Hawkeyes do, and to boot their bye week is vs. Oregon State. Sheesh.

Can’t believe it’s already been 10 years since Jay went sixth overall out of Illinois. The 2015 Big Ten Tournament at Target Field, which had Maryland in its first B1G season and future big leaguers Lowe and Wade, was as packaged with scouts as any scene I’ve seen in the north.
