Arizona State will play in the College Football Playoff as the Big 12 Champion with its first 11-win season since 1996 after being picked to finish last in the conference's preseason media poll. It is by far the program's most impressive achievement this century.

Sources: Amazing, 100% true Thanksgiving story about Kenny Dillingham. Saturday: Dillingham earns $200k bonus for 9 wins. Monday: Dillingham tells 20 off-the-field ASU staffers they’ll all get a 5–10k bonus. What Dillingham didn’t tell them (or me): He’s giving them his bonus.

How special is this ASU football season? Dating to 1897, it’s the first time the Sun Devils have won six games by one score (eight or fewer points). Before the season, Kenny Dillingham said success would require winning close games. His team is the best to ever do it at ASU.
