The world looks bleak and horrible. But yesterday I saw some Hooded Mergansers in the park. So, I got that at least

A pair of male Hooded Mergansers (Lophodytes cucullatus) in the pond below Prayerbook Cross Falls in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco. There was also a female. She spent most of the time diving for food. She caught and ate at least one crayfish.
