Nothing that I posted was fake.

Did I ever say that? Did I denigrate Dawes? That Paul Revere did amazing things does not take away from Dawes.

Your opening gambit was WMS kind of the definition of racist sexist comment.

That I am a geezer is a fact. That you made the perjorative comment about it is on you.

It is you who made a claim, you need to cough up the source.

Everything I have stated as fact is based on events that can be confirmed. Where did Mitchell write that he released Revere because he was "annoyed"?

His name was Paul, not Jack. Maybe you are projecting from your 50's grade school experience. I came to appreciate Revere as an adult.

chrisfrombedford.bsky.social @chrisfrombedford.bsky.social · 01/05/2025
Dawes and Revere were going to key people who would start others out. The number of messengers would grow exponentially. That does not diminish what Revere did.

Gunshots and bells on a night when people are indoors is no way to communicate an important message.

chrisfrombedford.bsky.social @chrisfrombedford.bsky.social · 29/04/2025
I line 0.85 miles from a shooting range. If outdoors I can hear gunfire when there is activity there. Indoors never.

So, I am calling bullshit on the arm to muster claim. I live in Bedford,MA. Two miles as the crow flies from the location of the then meeting house. They regularly ring bells there. In all the years I have lived there I have never heard them at my home.

He was an important figure in the sons of liberty. His actions that night exhibited a high degree of coolness of mind; ending the British patrol. He continued acting well beyond the end of his in principle mission. Really to claim that he would not be known except for his name rhyming is silly.

Nope. That seems to be your stock in trade. You are by your own admission racist, sexist and ageist. Trifecta!

The reference to the girl... Are you still claiming that Sybil Ludington was in Middlesex county that night? You are delusional!

chrisfrombedford.bsky.social @chrisfrombedford.bsky.social · 29/04/2025
You are demented. Dawes was with Revere when Revere was captured. He was thrown from his horse and the horse ran off as he fled the patrol. That ended Dawes night. He had a good night. Did his duty. But he did no more than Revere that night.

chrisfrombedford.bsky.social @chrisfrombedford.bsky.social · 29/04/2025
Sorry. If in your demented state you arrived at that impression it is not my claim.

Maybe you went to grade school in the 50s. Perhaps you are suffering from dementia. I am not nearly that old.

It is not based on fiction. I stand by all of the facts I mentioned. His action should be celebrated along with others. I learn most of what I know about Paul Revere in this century and the more I have learned the more I understand why he is admired.

Going around in circles here. He would be known to history because of Patriots day and his activities before and after. I don't understand the need to bring him down in an effort to recognize others.

Please read what you wrote to me. The comment about your being self absorbed fabulist is a simple observation.

chrisfrombedford.bsky.social @chrisfrombedford.bsky.social · 28/04/2025
Hmmm. Who is the self important fabulist in this conversation?
100
chrisfrombedford.bsky.social @chrisfrombedford.bsky.social · 28/04/2025
Such as? I am not the one who claimed that Mitchell released Revere because he was annoyed. That's pure fabrication on your part.

Yes, the well known tendency of old white guys to be sticklers for factual information. Guilty.

chrisfrombedford.bsky.social @chrisfrombedford.bsky.social · 28/04/2025
I would encourage you to do both. The known factual things that Paul Revere did are hardly fabulist self promotion.

He first went with Hancock and Adams toward Woburn (the part of Woburn that is now Burlington). He was crossing the common with the papers when the Regulars arrived.

chrisfrombedford.bsky.social @chrisfrombedford.bsky.social · 28/04/2025
I think you are adding your own interpretation there. Either way thank you Paul Revere for terminating the British patrol.
100
chrisfrombedford.bsky.social @chrisfrombedford.bsky.social · 28/04/2025
Not true. Prescott alerted Concord and the Nelsons alerted Bedford and Lincoln, the first Minutemen companies to arrive in Concord.

Learning about the many thousands involved in the American revolution is a fine and worthy thing. Why start by trashing Paul Revere?
200
chrisfrombedford.bsky.social @chrisfrombedford.bsky.social · 28/04/2025
If you know where Luddington is supposed to have had her midnight ride, then you also know that the supposed is a real thing. Great if it were true, but maybe not true. So you trash Paul Revere for maybe a myth?
000
chrisfrombedford.bsky.social @chrisfrombedford.bsky.social · 28/04/2025
And yet your post started with disrespect for Paul Revere. Why, to obtain respect do you insist on being disrespectful to others.
100
chrisfrombedford.bsky.social @chrisfrombedford.bsky.social · 25/04/2025
Sybil Luddington is associated with another event that occurred two years later. She has nothing to do with Lexington and Concord. Not talking about her with regard to Revere/Lexington/Concord has nothing to do with DEI. It has to do with history.

chrisfrombedford.bsky.social @chrisfrombedford.bsky.social · 25/04/2025
Revere was important in many ways and had one hell of a night an April 18/19. One can honor others without disparaging Paul Revere.
100
chrisfrombedford.bsky.social @chrisfrombedford.bsky.social · 25/04/2025
Revere and another man were carrying the trunk through the minuteman lines as the British approached and Parker gave his final orders. It is because of Revere’s written testimony that we know what he said.
100
chrisfrombedford.bsky.social @chrisfrombedford.bsky.social · 25/04/2025
Revere returned to Lexington and escorted Hancock and Sam Adams to Woburn. Hancock had left a trunk of important documents in Lexington. Revere returned to Lexington to retrieve them.

chrisfrombedford.bsky.social @chrisfrombedford.bsky.social · 25/04/2025
He convinced Mitchell, the patrol commander. The Brits abandoned their patrol to head east and warn Smith. Meaning no patrols to stop other riders. Revere was then a hindrance to the Brits. So they stole his horse and let him go.
200
chrisfrombedford.bsky.social @chrisfrombedford.bsky.social · 25/04/2025
That there were other riders does not diminish Revere. As to being captured; that was when he showed how cool headed he was. He lied to his captors telling them that there were 500 minutemen in Lexington already and that 1000 would be there by dawn.
100
chrisfrombedford.bsky.social @chrisfrombedford.bsky.social · 25/04/2025
The idea that Revere is only known because of Longfellow is nonsense. He was the leading messenger for the Sons of Liberty. He was not randomly yelling that the regulars were out. He was going to places that were prepared to send out further riders because the move on Concord was expected.
200
chrisfrombedford.bsky.social @chrisfrombedford.bsky.social · 25/04/2025
Because if you bothered to learn anything you would know that Dawes and Revere were together when Revere was captured. Dawes was chased, tossed from his horse and his night ended. Revere was only getting started. Maybe if you were from Bedford you would know that.

Sybil Luddington's ride, if it actually occurred, was two years later and from Connecticut to New York.

If she did a ride at all, it was two years later and in Connecticut. Why would we celebrate that for the anniversary of Lexington and Concord?
010
chrisfrombedford.bsky.social @chrisfrombedford.bsky.social · 21/04/2025
1) It may not have happened. There is no actual contemporary evidence for Sybil Luddington's ride. 2) Revere and Dawes April 1775 Boston to Lincoln Mass. Luddington April 1777 Danbury Connecticut.

As I refilled my weekly pill case with all my prescription drugs I took a moment to wonder: Is the real reason so many senior citizens are in the ham radio hobby that we have an inexhaustible supply of pill bottles which are PERFECT for making loading coils for antennae?
