Great thread. I will add that all of this comes at a time when I think creators are genuinely taking huge swings creatively (and landing more often than not — even failures feel vital), which makes these developments all the more depressing and confounding.

Based on my heaps of writing this year, 'Ted' is one of my fave books. Dave has made some of the most human and uplifting sci-fi of the last decade, and 'Ted' is a reminder that you choose who you are every time you make a move. And I think the TPB version will be cool in all new ways.
