Chris Cave @chriscave.bsky.social · 17/08/2026The worst I heard was sky news announcing that inflation figures had "dropped" and they had actually increased! 140
Chris Cave @chriscave.bsky.social · 12/08/2026We needed a second car, but couldn't afford one, but worked out a second hand Nissan Leaf would effectively pay for itself with the lack of fuel costs (this was around 2014). The fact that we could "refuel" from home with free solar power blew my mind and we never looked back. 150
Chris Cave @chriscave.bsky.social · 01/08/2026I tried this, caramelised onion hummus spread on white bread, bit of cucumber and onion, blooming lovely, cheap and zero effort! Thank you. 000
Chris Cave @chriscave.bsky.social · 29/07/2026Is this the same "Plant Based by ASDA Organic Smoked Tofu 180g"? Can I just eat that as a sandwich filling? 100
Chris Cave @chriscave.bsky.social · 29/07/2026This is why it is so baffling that there can't be decent (basic) cheese. Gregg's Vegan Sausage rolls and the BK Plant Based Whopper are both better than the meat equivalents. 150
Chris Cave @chriscave.bsky.social · 29/07/2026They do quite a few in the £6.50/kg range now (cheaper than cheese) so I'll give them a go now that I know this is a thing - thank you! 010
Chris Cave @chriscave.bsky.social · 29/07/2026I genuinely thank you for these suggestions and will try to try them, but I can't see how the average person, on a budget can decide to fast from cheese for 6 months and then hunt out and find mega-expensive cheese alternatives? As for eggs, I'd just not bother, I wouldn't miss them at all. 220
Chris Cave @chriscave.bsky.social · 29/07/2026Just ASDA? The hummus I've had was like bland bean paste? 100
Chris Cave @chriscave.bsky.social · 29/07/2026I'll try hummus again, but I'm sure last time I tried it, it tasted of nothing. Falafel is mega expensive. 100
Chris Cave @chriscave.bsky.social · 29/07/2026Yep, and this is always the answer. I can have all that as a non-vegan if that is what I want, but what is the block of stuff that I take 4 slices off, chuck in some bread and eat? 210
Chris Cave @chriscave.bsky.social · 29/07/2026Not just cheese, Red Leicester specifically in my case. 110
Chris Cave @chriscave.bsky.social · 29/07/2026Exactly this. Most days I have a cheese sandwich for lunch, what do I have as a vegan, a bean sandwich? 540
Chris Cave @chriscave.bsky.social · 29/07/2026I never had an issue with milk, I get the cheapest ASDA Soya and prefer it with cereal and in tea, but I've not had a good cheese and the pretend eggs are vile. What cheese would you recommend? I feel we need a basics vegan range, I'm not interested in everything being fancy just because it's vegan. 290

And progress matters🎉 www.theguardian.com/environment/...theguardian.comBritain breaks solar energy record twice as UK’s biggest solar farm gets approvalRecord high set on Monday and raised on Tuesday, with 14.4GW of electricity generated in sunny spring weather 491865499
Chris Cave @chriscave.bsky.social · 24/12/2025In 1985 I was one day away from getting one of these and life was never the same again! Thank you for posting these pictures :) 010
Chris Cave @chriscave.bsky.social · 27/11/2025Like everything it is just a mess and sends the wrong message. I see a lot of reports saying ICE pay around 7p per mile equivalent, so why not ditch fuel duty, switch to pay per mile, set it to 7p for ICE, 5p for Hybrid and 3p for EVs - you could play with the numbers until the money adds up? 070
Chris Cave @chriscave.bsky.social · 08/11/2025We thought the same, it seems really counterintuitive to do a two hour set with no water, but as you say, it definitely seems to be working! 030
Chris Cave @chriscave.bsky.social · 07/11/2025We went to an album launch gig with Bryan that had a Q&A section. Someone asked how he looked after his voice and he said he didn't drink liquid (water or anything) on stage. When you see him, you notice this is true. 120

Chris Cave @chriscave.bsky.social · 25/02/2025It seems like a slight nudge towards better for electricity though with the electricity standing charge actually going down. April onwards with solar and heat pump should be a net positive I think? (assuming Intelligent Go overnight stays the same and we actually get some sun!) 000
Chris Cave @chriscave.bsky.social · 24/01/2025The comments are astonishing! Almost nothing positive at all. 000
Chris Cave @chriscave.bsky.social · 21/01/2025Amazing report! Glad to see that we're doing everything right with ours, but the Ecodan would quite happily be topping up the last 10 deg all the time if we had left it. I guess the other factor is convenience though, having a tank "ready to go" would probably be preferable for most than a good COP? 110
Chris Cave @chriscave.bsky.social · 15/01/2025Physical buttons and Wi-Fi, so definitely better, but yes, not perfect. Especially painful when tied up with Intelligent Octopus too as you have their servers to go through. 000
Chris Cave @chriscave.bsky.social · 15/01/2025Didn't MyEnergi get a load of grief when they mentioned this? I guess they were right! 100
Chris Cave @chriscave.bsky.social · 26/12/2024I had no idea Rob Zombie was vegan, thanks for sharing this info! Nobody ever watched Rob Zombie and thought "he seems to be lacking energy!" 120
