I think I know what plant you mean. It would have been a big blow to the industry if they had frigged you up. Much respect. I was mostly dealing with finished goods in my old job, but you pressed the project I was most heavily involved in.

Maybe it would have worked if they gave your place money to expand and trusted your people to run things. I was the "vinyl guy" at a local music/movie/games/bookstore chain that got into Funkopops kind of early. I am curious what plant you were working for.

I remember that period and thinking they were never going to pull that off. I didn't know they were talking to experienced people. That makes it seem less crazy. It seemed they were having a hard time keeping up with their own growth.

If I was going to open a recording studio, I would name it The Stu-Stu-Studio and we would be the kings of gated reverb.

On the Record: Music entrepreneur Chris Brown is targeting clients ‘with artistic and career momentum’

After three decades with Bull Moose, Chris Brown left the music and entertainment retailer to start a music consulting business called Chris Brown 33.

Human Moods (mature, grown-up modern/hard rock)

110

Chris Brown @chrisbrown33-45.bsky.social · 21/04/2025

I have mostly been listening to local artists to get a better idea who is on the move. My personal favorites so far are Dominic Lavoie (classic rock influenced indie rock,) Louisa Stancioff (like Mazzy Star,) Vices, Inc. (alt rock/punk pop w female singer,) Thomas Charles Clukey (country/folk.)

The John & Yoko record? They only pressed 3K, which is a very small amount for a Lennon RSD piece. Unfortunately, it's excellent. Fortunately, it's associated with a film, so one imagines that there will be a release of the full concert. I hope so, anyway.

Chris Brown @chrisbrown33-45.bsky.social · 19/04/2025

It's nice to hear that was at Bull Moose. The only RSD title I bought was the John & Yoko live EP, which is fantastic. Otherwise, I bought some local CDs.

You make a good point there. I wonder if that's because of the personalities involved. It seems like Robert Wyatt pulled things in a looser, sometimes abstract, direction while Richard Sinclair was more tuneful.

Chris Brown @chrisbrown33-45.bsky.social · 19/04/2025

That's so cool! Were you able to find it locally? What do you think of it so far? Any other winners? Last week I started compiling a playlist of prog rock "current events." Its a mix of pre-orders, new releases, and reissues. Apple Music and Spotify links are here. chrisbrown33.com/playlists-ti...

I had hoped that was a misprint t and that it's really 2LP. I wonder if that will be a record if it's only 1. Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman, and Howe originally was 1 LP, but I think it was closer to 60 minutes.

Records often go missing in a move. Somehow I managed to lose everything after Joe Meek through Yoko Ono when I moved them within my own house. Literally from one room to another.

Add Human Moods to your #RSD2025 list. I'm loving this female-fronted mature alt rock band. I think it will be exclusive to @bullmoosestores.bsky.social. It's like it was made for Gen Xers who still want to rock. Great lyrics and vocals and it sounds great!
