While Australia and the world have made big progress over the last twenty years, the Liberal Party has gone backwards. John Howard had better climate policies than Angus Taylor. To read more head to my Substack:

Marking 20 Years Since The Stern Review
This October marks the twentieth anniversary of the release of the Stern Review. It got the world's attention. It was the clearest and most thorough exposition that the cost of climate change significantly outweighs the cost of climate action.

The Albanese Government is making medicines more affordable.  Our changes have already helped countless people in our community of McMahon and saved millions on their prescriptions.  Only a Labor Government will continue to invest in Medicare.

Labor’s EV policies have meant more choices of clean, cheaper-to-run models on the market, making it easier than ever for Aussies to own an EV. We'll continue on with the job of providing more choice when it comes to choosing your car.

500,928 EVs have been sold in Australia as of last month. That’s over half a million Aussies realising that owning an EV can help with the cost of living, especially when paired with rooftop solar and a Cheaper Home Battery.

Melelusi Sokotia is a Year 8 student who dreams of being a doctor. Yesterday she spoke at Pre COP about the impact climate change is already having on her community in Tuvalu and what it means for her future. And she did a great job in front of prime ministers, presidents and ministers.

And this is all happening in our suburbs.  It just goes to show that everyday Aussies understand that what's good for the planet is good for your pocket too.

Electric vehicles are going from strength to strength.  More than double the amount of EVs were sold this September compared to September last year.  Last month was also the second month in a row that EVs outsold petrol cars.

Once upon a time we were told that EVs were going to ruin the weekend.  Well now 25% of new car sales are EVs and our weekend is still here.  Aussies are understanding that what's good for the planet is good for the pocket as well.  Link here -> www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzXXBXQiEl4.

For Australia, a Pacific that is more climate resilient and energy secure makes the whole region stronger. We know that global collective action can lead to real change, and it’s more important now than ever to keep up the momentum.

What is Pre-COP, and why does it matter? This week I’ll meet with ministers and climate decision-makers in Fiji to help put Pacific priorities front and centre on the world stage.

While the international situation remains uncertain, our plan remains the same - ensure that we have the fuel reserves we need by working closely with our international counterparts and engaging closely with our domestic refiners.

Chris Bowen @chrisbowenmp.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
Despite persistent international upheaval, Australia’s fuel security remains solid. The 3.6 billion litres of fuel set to be delivered within the next four weeks includes 2 billion litres of diesel - the highest forward order since May.

This is what real progress is all about, building the infrastructure of the future and pushing our nation forward for everyone.  Always great to catch up with the amazing Anne Urquhart MP in beautiful North-West Tassy.

It comes into effect today so businesses can make the most of this benefit right now.  This will mean more Australian energy powering Australian industry and put downward pressure on prices for everyone.

We've seen what rooftop solar can do for households bills and we want more businesses to get those benefits too.  From farms and factories to shops and warehouses, we're expanding government support to a massive MW of solar capacity.

Labor’s EV policies have lead to an influx of affordable, cheaper-to-run EVs on the market, and Aussies are picking them up at a record rate. And it’s not just emissions that are reducing - switching to an EV can save families around $3000 every year.

Chris Bowen @chrisbowenmp.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
These are record breaking numbers that show progress in action.  Aussies are just getting on with it and we will too.

Chris Bowen @chrisbowenmp.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
Aussie homes and businesses are embracing renewable technology at record rates! In the first half of 2026 over 180,000 rooftop solar systems and over 275,000 home batteries were installed.

Australia is a world leader in renewable energy storage, which makes our grid stronger. This doesn’t just reduce our emissions, it makes wholesale electricity more affordable for everyone. Congratulations to the NSW Government and all involved.

The newly opened Waratah Super Battery in NSW is one of the world’s most powerful batteries, combining large-scale energy storage with advanced systems designed to bring more renewable energy into the system and keep the grid secure.

Our New Vehicle Efficiency Standard saves 600 million litres, or around 14 days worth, of fuel every year by giving Australians better choices of EVs and hybrids. And now the LNP wants to get rid of it. In the middle of a global fuel crisis. They just don't get it

Australia’s fuel security remains stable, despite difficult and uncertain international circumstances. To maintain our domestic fuel security we will continue to work with our domestic refiners and our trading partners. This week I am in India and Saudi Arabia doing just that.

I recently had the opportunity to sit down with Matt Kean, Chair of the Climate Change Authority to talk all things climate and energy.  It's clear that even if climate change wasn't a thing, investing in cheap, sovereign and reliable renewable energy would make the most sense our country.

In Chifley over 10% of households now have a cheaper home battery and the suburb of Marsden Park is in the top 10 nation wide for EV take up.  This is a suburban and regional story where the energy transition is translating into cheaper bills for families. A big thanks to Ed for having me.

Ed and I both represent Western Sydney as local members.  We can see first hand how suburban Australia is taking up batteries and EVs in great numbers.

This is the story playing out all over suburban and regional Australia, families taking control of their energy, cutting their bills for good and putting downward pressure on evening prices for everyone else.  It's real cost of living relief being delivered by the Albanese Labor Government.

In fact, suburban electorates like Chifley, Mitchell and Greenway now have over 10% of households with a Cheaper Home Battery.

This is Deepak and his family - they live in Western Sydney.  They used to pay over $700 a year on their energy bill, but now, they get a rebate of $500.  All thanks to a battery they installed for their home under the Cheaper Home Battery Program.

This is fantastic news for the Illawarra, for jobs and the economy and helps ensure Australia makes more of the clean-energy technology the world needs.  While others deny and delay, we'll get on with the job of the energy transition.

It was great to be at Hysata last Friday as the Albanese Government is backing innovation and advanced manufacturing with a $49 million investment in Hysata to scale up production of its world-leading hydrogen electrolysers at Port Kembla.
