I grew up in a small VERY unionized logging town. I had seen guys drop wrenches into the equipment because their time off requests were turned down causing huge money for repairs. He was fired but the Union got him brought back even with witnesses reporting what he did. Unions can be abused.

I was against Unions for a lot of years. Not because of what they stood for necessarily, but against the whole seniority thing as some people are not necessarily qualified for promotions ahead of others. They are good in the effect they keep corporations in line especially for what is happening now.
