I've finally got a W-social account. It took three weeks to authenticate with W-Identify. Now seeing if there is any difference to being here compared to BlueSky or Eurosky!

I had a hearing test in Morpeth today and took a walk along the river afterwards Here's Cormorant on the Wansbeck. They didn't turn round to look at me, but it's quite a nice rear view.
A cormorant (large black bird with a fan tail and orange/grey beak) spreads its wings while standing on a wooden plank in shallow water.

Boulmer beach and sugar sands today. Now that the summer season is over it's nice and empty again, only a handful of people there. #WSocialPics #Northumberland #UK
A view across the now largely empty Boulmer Beach. The sand is damp, it rained overnight but now there's a clear sky with white clouds.A rocky section separating Boulmer Beach from Sugar Sands. The water is very clear and the sea quite still.A view down to Sugar Sands from a track at the top of the hills. A rocky headland just out into the sea, behind that it's Boulmer Beach

An absolute masterpiece of making it hard to compare two values by The Guardian. By my calculations the UK price is 12% lower, but I'm far from certain! #metric #badReporting #obscureUnits www.theguardian.com/business/liv...

European gas prices are also rising this morning . The benchmark Dutch contract is up 2.9% to €74.185 per megawatt hour (MWh), while the the British front-month contract is up 2.7% to 184.64 pence per therm.

A wet, misty, but very pretty day on the Carriageway, above Rothbury. #Rothbury #Northumberland #UK #walking
A view looking down a pathway. There's purple heather on one side and a large grey rock on the other. There's a birch tree in the foreground and other trees in the mist further away.Mist over a tree covered hill, seen across heather.

It's alright, I identify as a sheep.
A young black bullock obviously very at home with sheep in a field. As it wasn't clear that it was a bullock on a small phone screen, this is a closeup

I've written this email to the guardian complaining about an article that's poorly worded and looks as though its saying that the language Sanskrit itself is dogmatic and extremist. The image truncates a final "or Hebrew", full text in the ALT. @theguardian.com #Hinduism #Buddhism #Extremism #Media
This article "Disciples review – fresh-faced boys are sucked into a nightmare of extremism in India"

https://www.theguardian.com/film/2026/aug/24/disciples-review-india

Says "Focusing on two new entrants called Satyarth and Hari, the film documents their daily routines, which largely revolve around Sanskrit classes. The learning of this ancient script, supposedly to maintain a linguistic tradition, is actually in service of religious dogmatism..."

The article makes it clear that by "Dogmatism" it means radical extremism.

I first came across this article from a social media post defending Sanskrit and angry at the article for claiming that learning it and the language itself is dogmatic and extremist. When I first read the article, I saw it in the same way

However, on rereading it carefully, I think and hope that it is poor ambiguous wording and what the author meant was that the legitimate aim of teaching Sanskrit was being used as a front for teaching propaganda. If this is what was meant, please change the wording. If you actually did mean teaching Sanskrit is dogmatic, shame on you — would you say the same about Arabic or Hebrew?

Personally I wouldn't mind this "lack of success" - only earning £91 million! #entitled #obsceneWealth #royals
