Yes lots of nasty stuff has been made in that area. PEEK manufacturing doesn't create nasty stuff but your inclusion of Victrex implies that it does. I'm just trying to correct an implication that you've made that didn't need to be made.

Your story is about pollution caused by previous plastics companies on the same site. Your implication appears to be that because Victrex also make a plastic that happens to be used to make secret military parts that they are also causing similar pollution. Do you know that to be the case?

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. PEEK plastic is used to make some secret parts but that doesn't make the plastic secret. No more so than some secret parts are made of other materials like aluminium but that doesn't make aluminium secret.

Highly secret plastic? It's PEEK - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polyeth... It's pretty cool stuff. Strong as steel but very much lighter. One use is replacement human joints which are great because they're much lighter and it's inert in the body.

3000km using 2W, so about 40% of full power. The QMX+ has a lot more toroids than the QMX so you'll find the build much easier! I'll look out for you on FT8.

I'm sure your're going to have fun. I've just finished building the QMX+ and it's currently transmitting WSPR across all bands to test the transmitter. I've had reports back from 3000km away using just just 2w into a vertical antenna.

And 1000 years is just for the media. You'll probably have fun trying to read them in 10-15 years if drivers aren't updated. You have to replaced HDDs every so often, but I'd be pretty sure you'll end up having to find a new solution in a few years time and have to copy all your data over to it.

Just remember to review and possibly replace your chosen storage media solution every couple of years. I've seen plenty of good storage solutions disappear over the years. No more media, drivers not available for new OS versions, etc.

I've seen similar post-Brexit rules from other suppliers. I wonder how many other countries get suppliers to collect and pay taxes? Mind you if it's collected in the UK you end up paying the £10+ 'customs processing fee' so you can't win.
