Probably my favorite slide from #foss4gna, given that all the map work I do is on web or mobile, it's essential that all the #gis capabilities are coming directly from the server/database, most often #postgis or #duckdb

Glad we could contribute to these newly released efforts to bring attention to the environmental impacts of landfills, especially to climate change, by creating the data visualization waste impact tracker site- #gischat www.wasteimpacttracker.org#/state/NY?la...

Same. I added a meetup at #foss4gna for #gischat, felt like it could be good to meet the online geo community in person and possibly discuss the above too

I'm not using it extensively for geospatial work, but certainly using it for general software engineering, and my general position is that it should be treated as slightly more useful google search, and to treat it's results and suggestions as if you were reading it on a sketchy website lol-

#gischat most #gis can be done in your database, like #postgres/#postgis

As an ecology major, I originally was using gis to map American Ginseng for agroforestry studies, then literally mapping bird sightings lol- #gischat

What's the actual problem? Just your auto complete?

I slow walk, usually between 1.5 and 2 mph, within a week or two I didn't even notice I was walking at all-

It's kind of amazing there isn't already an easy answer for this. I'd probably code the map with point drop as a custom single page website, and then forward the necessary data to a google form-

So can #gischat just move here away from dumpster-fire bird site?
