I don't know who needs to hear this but recomps are anti-preservation. They are fun projects, but turning an original file format into a .exe does about as much to preserve it as this preserves a sound library

Jupiter, an orange cat is perched daintily on top of my computer setup with an expectant perch in his back, as if waiting for something to happen. He is looking down towards the floor with a distant look in his deep amber eyes. Jupiter's white mitten knuckles are squeezing into a foam keyboard pad and his rump is bunched up closely underneath. He wants to give lots of room for pets, if you would please. Please pet please. His whiskers arch outward in every direction off of his button face. You know what he really wants? Secretly most desires? A warm head to rub all over his fur and to get big stupid kisses all over. So I'm gonna go give Jupiter a bunch of pets now, thanks for hanging out with the light of my life big stupid son Jupiter.

It is better than the Korean War Memorial across the street though. That's easily the worst memorial I've ever seen. At least the 2001-era political compromises during a volatile time is palpable when you look at the void where the 9/11 memorial should be - this meanwhile is the Walmart of memorials

The Korean War Memorial monument is a silhouette of a soldier standing in their gear with no particular posing above a US and a South Korean flag. It symbolizes that there was a war where S.K and America were besties and that it is over now. What soldier is the silhouette of? Idk. Other countries participated too and their flags are also there. This is the David S. Pumpkins of war memorials and I have SEVERAL questions. Rating: 0/5, my advice is to demolish the top half of this with a wrecking ball and the result will much better represent a lost war that has uselessly torn a nation asunder.

I visited the 9/11 memorial last month and it's a bum memorial. Lazy design, inelegant execution, and proof the US will choose to rot in the nostalgic comfort of void rather than doing a lick of work to build Anything that could represent a future. Happy 25 years of pissin' into two empty holes.

I'd never seen pictures of the 9/11 memorial before I went there and now I know why. It's because the memorial sucks. This is a picture of a water pouring into the foundation of the twin tower with engraved names of first-responders around it. It is displeasing to look at or be around because it's just a void. It's not clever or palpable or breathtaking, it's emptiness with easily-pushed-aside credits to all the people who died to protect this emptiness - it flagrantly misunderstands all the reasons we engrave and emboss marble with victims names within monument: not to 'remember them forever', it's to make sure the volumes and contexts in which we extinguish life in mass are not forgotten. But that's not how Mayor Bloomberg's team saw it and he managed to engrave names in an out-of-the-way forgettable manner. 1/5 stars - demolish this memorial immediately and instead plant a park with a tall strong oak tree in the center. Build some fun climbables that gives a place to put the names of first responders in a place where they are IN the way, not unremarkably out of the way. Literally Anything is a better monument than Nothing, and this is Politically, Artistically, and Memorially Nothing.
