I was re-reading my article, “What a Healthy Team Looks Like” and I realized that in all the best teams I’ve been a part of, everyone was involved in discovery in some way. The best PMs don’t presume to know all the q’s and create time & space for the team to pursue discovery activities.

I’d likely join and then forget about it until the moment comes when I find myself with extra capacity nothing lined up. Other times when I might engage is when I’ve committed to a job that’s out of my comfort zone and I’m looking for mentorship or resources to upskill.
