Mark Goninon @choicestgames.com · 03/10/2026The pirate faction's ability in Civ 7 to generate GDP by destroying foreign civ units is kinda OP (I went Blackbeard with Republic of Pirates for all ages). Makes it easy to go for an Economic Victory. 010
Mark Goninon @choicestgames.com · 23/09/2026Been seeing these do the rounds and it's hard to pick 9 when you've played over 900 games (I have a list!). The ones I picked were the ones that really got me into a genre, and not necessarily the first I played (e.g. played Monkey Island before DOTT but DOTT is my favourite) 130
Mark Goninon @choicestgames.com · 09/08/2026After watching the entertaining Tetris movie on Apple TV, I wanted to learn more about the actual story of Tetris. Fortunately, I had Tetris Forever sitting in my backlog and gave it a whirl. Pretty neat to see a playable recreation of the original Elektronika 60 version 120
Mark Goninon @choicestgames.com · 20/03/2026Post the: Last movie you saw 🎬 The Wrecking Crew Last game you played 🎮 Transport Tycoon Deluxe Last show you watched 🖥 Sheriff County Last song you listened to 🎶 Back to You by Annabelle 110
Mark Goninon @choicestgames.com · 18/02/2026Just read up about the concept of Valeriepieris circles. The global one is centred around Myanmar and encompasses India, China and several other countries. It represents 50% of the world's population. Thought I'd try a similar experiment with Australia and this is what I got (MEL, SYD and CBR) 010
Mark Goninon @choicestgames.com · 13/02/2026Post one of your fav games that got 75 or less on metacritic 220
Mark Goninon @choicestgames.com · 17/12/2025Also according to Steam, if you guys ever want to make the perfect game for me, apparently it's a queer crime story grand strategy farming sim! 020
Mark Goninon @choicestgames.com · 17/12/2025Also you can definitely see where BF6 came into the picture (I have the EA App version) 010
Mark Goninon @choicestgames.com · 27/08/2025Does anybody else get strong Quest for Glory 1 vibes when visiting the Adventurer's Guild in Stardew Valley? There's even an old guy snoozing in a rocking chair by the fireplace called Gil that reminds me of Wolfgang... now makes me wonder if Eric Barone ever played it... 010
Mark Goninon @choicestgames.com · 15/08/2025When Baz in Cook Serve Forever starts talking about birthday cake designs, it reminds me of that old Australian Women's Weekly recipe book which also features a duck, swimming pool and train. Surely not just a coincidence? 100
Mark Goninon @choicestgames.com · 08/08/2025Yeah might as well do one of these. I've played hundreds of games so it was tough to choose and I no doubt missed some but I think this list caught some of the big influences on my life 251
Mark Goninon @choicestgames.com · 08/08/2025Thanks to the Internet Archive I can go back and read now defunct PC gaming magazines like PC Review and reminisce about the time I saw my name come up in Issue 38 (Dec 1994). The folks were probably surprised to see some expat kid living in the UAE was one of the competition winners! 000
Mark Goninon @choicestgames.com · 19/07/2025I've already got a huge Pile of Shame but it's just the tip of the iceberg as it doesn't list a couple of itch.io bundles with hundreds of games I purchased a few years back. I finally tried out Baba is You and wish I had tried it out sooner! So far loving this charming and clever puzzle game. 030
Mark Goninon @choicestgames.com · 11/07/2025Camels are so OP in Civ 7 Antiquity age. Grab a couple of these resources and it's easy street to an Economic Legacy Path. 000
Mark Goninon @choicestgames.com · 05/07/2025Quote with a robot that isn't from Star Wars, Star Trek, Dr. Who or Transformers 010
Mark Goninon @choicestgames.com · 01/07/2025If you see this, quote with the last 4 games you played 060
Mark Goninon @choicestgames.com · 19/05/2025Take the fictional characters quiz and post the first four you know: openpsychometrics.org/tests/charac... Decided to take this test that everybody else is doing and yes, I get it, I'm a nerd 🤓 010
Mark Goninon @choicestgames.com · 01/05/2025There you go. This is probably the most accurate way to pronounce "Karateka" but Mechner goes on to say it doesn't matter how you want to pronounce it, the two most common ones you hear being "Care-a-TAKE-a" and "ka-RAH-teh-ka" (at least in the English speaking world) 000
Mark Goninon @choicestgames.com · 30/04/2025A famous gnome inventor called Alfred Nabel who worked in the field of explosives? They're really not even trying to hide the reference here are they? :P 000
Mark Goninon @choicestgames.com · 24/04/2025Share the last 4 games you've played and expose your gaming habits! (Since I play games with my kids or off my backlog, these games aren't actually reflective of my favourite games but does show the range of games I play!) 040
Mark Goninon @choicestgames.com · 17/04/2025The ability to go full 80s action hero on the Ultimate definitely sold me 020
Mark Goninon @choicestgames.com · 13/04/2025Can't quite remember but I don't think I watched anything at the cinema until my teens, earliest memories was watching Goldeneye and this 010
Mark Goninon @choicestgames.com · 15/03/2025Thought I'd see what all the fuss is about and... oh geeze is that the time? 000
Mark Goninon @choicestgames.com · 23/02/2025A Gaming Gandalf hey? Yeah, I suppose I can get behind that :P blueskyroast.com/roast/choice... 010
Mark Goninon @choicestgames.com · 16/02/2025Starting another playthrough of Dragon Age: The Veilguard and introducing Mykros Thorne. Just as it was with previous Dragon Age games, love how having certain backgrounds (in this case Grey Warden and Dwarf) opens up different conversation options, trivia and choices. 010
Mark Goninon @choicestgames.com · 08/02/2025So I finally finished Veilguard, and wow, the endgame with its twists, multiple choices that have an impact on how the story ends, is great although DAI is still my favourite in the series when it comes to the epilogues... /1 1202
Mark Goninon @choicestgames.com · 02/02/2025I love the wholesome moments in this game. This being one of them (I won't say anymore since I don't want to spoil it for those that haven't played yet). 1122
Mark Goninon @choicestgames.com · 02/02/2025Shortly after fighting Rook and his companions in Thedas, the Skeleton Crew set forth to a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away. 031
Mark Goninon @choicestgames.com · 01/02/2025Now that I'm officially Level 42, I now have unlocked the ability to play sick slap bass riffs. 000
Mark Goninon @choicestgames.com · 29/01/2025Thanks Dom. Just need a black Dodge Charger to complete the scene... 110
Mark Goninon @choicestgames.com · 28/01/2025Nothing to see here but a jovial family dinner with no tension whatsoever... 000
Mark Goninon @choicestgames.com · 27/01/2025I love it how instead of preventing you from falling to your death, Veilguard allows you to do so but just plonks you back to where you last were. I've fallen accidentally to my death so many times if there were an achievement for it, I'm certain I'd already have it. 110
Mark Goninon @choicestgames.com · 27/01/2025This comment confuses me since (a) why would someone delight in other people suffering and (b) I remember a time when DLC was considered a bad word and a game that was the whole package considered a badge of honour. The game also has 60-70 hours on HLTB which isn't exactly "little gameplay" 010
Mark Goninon @choicestgames.com · 15/01/2025Lots of games nowadays are giving you the ability to pet animals in them, Dragon Age: The Veilguard included. I'm all for it. 010
