In Choctaw, the word for turkey is fʋkit. And yes, it’s pronounced like that. I plan to say the word and honor my ancestors, hopefully piss off some colonizers. Fʋkit.

I wish I could narrate the world outside my head. How wonderful would it be to see a random acquaintance on the grocery aisle and say “General Pleasantries” and they reply “Warm smile” and you just get your shit and get out.

My chihuahua killed a small mole that has been destroying our land. As I indigenously presented the trophy to the feral cats, singing the only circle of life song I know, I knew my ancestors saw my actions. At least one said “Ew.”
