Some days I love my job. I love my kids and my clinical team. But some days I hate my job. Like seriously hate it, therapy is not seen as a priority and some staff (and foster parents) treat me like a glorified babysitter. Rage!!!

I did, sadly, get my first case with a really fucked up situation involving possible sex trafficking of minors. It's all allegations, but idk, when a kid tries to commit suicide over something like that, there's definitely something really wrong there.

That said, I've seen some pretty horrific cases. Kiddo in the system who had a fractured skull at 1 month old (much older now). Lots of cases of neglect, lots of dads in jail, lots of domestic violence, a lot of drugs. It's sometimes very tiring and hard.

One of the things about my job I'm noticing is the ups and down can be extreme at time. Bad days happen, good days happen, though the good days outshine the bad. The key seems to be not to get discouraged, have patience, know when to not care (and this is more for birth parents and foster parents)

The cases themselves are pretty hard. Age range is 3-19. Some of the situations are reaaaaaaaally fucked up. But I'm dealing with it all. It's been a long time since I've been this happy with my path.

Anways...the job is great. Hard, but not as rough as I thought, at least not yet. I've been learning a lot on procedure, paperwork, interacting with foster parents and birth parents, and providing therapy for my assigned kids. I have 9 clients atm.

I've been really quiet, I know. Adjusting to the working life has been interesting. I've been tired, but really content. A part of me is mad at myself for not getting on antidepressants and anti-anxiety meds sooner- is that really all it took to get me out of my funk?

$165 for a new passport- That's A LOT of money for some people. Not to mention it doesn't take into account passport photos, any documentation you don't have and have to pay for (for example, if you don't have your birth certificate, that can cost between $10 and $35 depending on State)
