That is awesome. Here in SW Florida I volunteer with a project at the local University to study the beach sediment layers where Loggerhead & Green turtle nests are. We install water sensors @ 1m & temp sensors @ 40cm.

Oh, and here I start sowing tender annuals in Jan outside. We almost never have frosts and if we do simply covering for the 1 or 2 times it happens works.

I am very much still learning living in Zone 10a and on the coast, but one of the things I have learned is to sow seeds for annuals in very big pots OR in seed trays where you can water from the bottom and NOT from the top. That way the seedlings develop long deep roots needed in hot, dry spots.

I planted out native Muhley & white Fountain grasses around my lanai pool cage & it has become a perfect habitat for Dragonflies! I love having them. Sometimes as #gardeners we have positive unintended impacts on our local wildlife. #nature #gardening #garden #pollinators Happy Saturday morning!

You can still try sowing them even now if you are in zone 7a or less. As long as you start them in a tray that you can water from the bottom so that their roots develop deeply, they should germinate and come on by late July, early August.

Armadillos in SW FL offer excellent natural pest control by eating thousands of insects, spiders, and grubs each day. And also will eat snails and slugs. But can be very aggressive if they feel threatened, so make sure your dog respects their space. #nature #garden #wildlife 🌱
