Saying the West has more freedom because there is no censorship is incredibly dishonest when people on social media have to constantly self censor to not breach TOS. Oh cool, you shifted censorship duties from the state to media monopolies, how wonderful.

Anti-communists love to scream about the evils of the Gulags, as if the US isn't currently running the biggest prison labor system on earth. The Gulags where closed in 1956, meanwhile countless americans, espeically Black americans, are still enslaved today.

When liberals call you a commie for demanding free healthcare, education or housing they're openly admitting that the communists will give you those things, and they will not.

The fundamental premise of Western liberalism is that Israel’s “right to exist” takes precedence over the right of Palestinian children to keep their limbs.

Why? Because Social Democracy/Democratic Socialism doesn't break with the economic foundation of imperialism, they just prefer a different, gentler approach to managing it. They have to side with the colonial forces in some manner; their economy depends on it.

Repeating the "Hamas killed 1,100 Israelis" talking point but doesn't say a word about how most of those were smoked by the IOF lmao I know what you are. Social Democrats, at best, will condemn isolated aspects of colonialism, but they won't ever side with those resisting it.

It was a real attempt at building socialism and internationalism. Was it flawed? Yes. Obviously the counterrevolution found a support base. But it was a sincere attempt at building a better world.

The GDR's education system was praised across the world. Women's rights were far more advanced than in West Germany. Queer people were treated better. Anti-fascism and anti-racism were official policy, leading to strong support for national liberation and anti-apartheid struggles

The West did everything in its power to bring it to its knees. The Hallstein Doctrine, terrorism, propaganda, funding for fascist paramilitaries, sabotage, and human trafficking were used to chip away at the GDR's industry. The real gains made by socialism were a threat.

chimera @chimeraxmachina.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
East Germany had taken the brunt of the destruction in WWII, most of its industry having been destroyed. And still, the GDR managed to reinustrialize at a breakneck pace, becoming the world's 17th biggest economy. Socialism, for a time, was winning.

First in Germany, now in France. Young people in Europe are fighting back against austerity and militarism. If we don't challenge our ruling class we'll be left with no prospects besides being turned into cannon fodder for some rich fuck's war.

Love that our oligarchs get to talk like poorly written anime villains while the rest of us get yelled at for suggesting the system that keeps them in power isn't all that great.

Germany is preparing for war, with the stated goal of becoming the leading military power in Europe. They are brining back the draft. Car manufacturers are switching to armament production. Roads & railways leading east are being reinforced to carry tanks. This isn't good.

It matters because should the state turn fascist all of our organizing has to go underground and turn to much more militant tactics. Because fascism doesn't allow independent working class organizing or an open opposition, which we are currently still afforded in the core.

The thing is, we can do something about the climate crisis. We can prevent wars. We can provide housing, healthcare and education for everyone. But not when we rely on parties that represent capital interests. Capital will never care about human needs beyond their profitability.

Not to be that guy, but the left really does use the term "fascist" in an unprincipled way. There are genuine differences between a fascist party and a reactionary, far-right populist party. Those differences matter a lot for organizing work and blurring the line isn't helpful.

Every time you complain about capitalism some libertarian tries to tell you that well actually, capitalism isn't the problem, it's *crony* capitalism, like crony capitalism doesn't just describe the same trend towards fusion of state and monopoly described by Lenin.

There is no reversing this within the bounds of the state they have created. It wasn't set up to do that. Social revolution is the only way we can set up a system that serves the people instead of the oligarchy.

chimera @chimeraxmachina.bsky.social · 07/09/2026
But the monopolies who run our states won't let that happen anyway. They fund the parties maintaining that system, they own the media that helps get those parties into power. Lobbies, Think Tanks, NGOs, a coercive web that penetrates every aspect of politics and the state as such

chimera @chimeraxmachina.bsky.social · 07/09/2026
The capitalism of the pre-state monopoly capitalism era is gone. It's not coming back. Even if you tear apart every bank and monopoly across the world, capitalist accumulation will set us right back on the path of monopoly.

At least the Soviet Union had ambitions and was striving for something bigger. Meanwhile, in the capitalist West, we are pushed deeper and deeper into poverty and are told that anything beyond neoliberal enshittification is asking too much. Fuck you.

Besides, this state wasn't set up to liberate anyone, it's literally the means of our oppression. Yes, we are in a bad situation, but nostalgia for this type of "activism" is the wrong takeaway. Instead, we should accept that it didn't work and move on to more effective methods.
030
chimera @chimeraxmachina.bsky.social · 06/09/2026
Any movement that maintains parliamentarianism and celebrity worship not just as the main, but as the sole mechanism through which people can achieve liberation is going to leave us defenseless and won't usher in permanent improvements. That's just not how it works.

chimera @chimeraxmachina.bsky.social · 06/09/2026
We have no grassroots base that can mobilize to confront the inevitable reaction, and the few politicians who could do something simply aren't enough to deal with this level of conservative fearmongering, or have abandoned the cause because it has become "politically toxic".
120
chimera @chimeraxmachina.bsky.social · 06/09/2026
On the surface this liberal identity activism may be better than open conservatism, makes you feel good and safe, but all it did politically was teach people to rely on the exact same politicians and celebrities who are now delivering us to the forces of reaction.

chimera @chimeraxmachina.bsky.social · 06/09/2026
People being nostalgic for the liberal activism of the 2010s just means they haven't digested its objective failure yet and don't understand the reason for that failure. It was never going to work. Move on to better strategies.

In order to convince people that western parliamentary democracy is superior the capitalists had to hide any and all evidence and testimony of how socialist participatory democracy works. Ask the average westerner, they simply don't know that that's even a thing.
