Been averaging over 1000 views on recent short form content. Much, much lower than back in the day. Usually I’d let this discourage me, but then I remember just how many people 1000 is. Never lose that perspective.

Touched grass (kinda) and worked on new floors in one of my bathrooms. Not just a gamer 👷🏾‍♂️

My 9 games that shaped me as a gamer. Not a list of my favourites (although some are on there). It’s more of a list of games that come bundled with core memories.

Me: yeah I’m not taking on too many games to review at one time. Also me:

Played some JRPGs yesterday. Feel like some survival crafting-style games this weekend. Thinking Enshrouded or hopping back into Dune: Awakening. What y’all playing?

Wanna grab a few physical Switch 2 releases this week, Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave included. However, $100+ CAD for a game still feels wild to me. This coming from someone financially stable.

000

🌊 chilphil @chilphil.com · 11/09/2026

Yeah Fire Emblem Three Houses is gas. One of the best things about getting a new console is playing through a whole new library of games. 🎮

Had the pleasure of playing through a prologue for Emberville. Felt like a solid preview, and feels like I almost finished scratching the surface. Looking forward to experiencing more of the game.

A few hours into Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy. I really want to like this game. Definitely has its cool points so far. Combat design is an interesting choice. We continue.

HBD Metal Gear Solid. The franchise that solidified my love for gaming. I have fond memories of using the second controller port to beat Psycho Mantis. Of having to swap the disc when going down the stairs into the blast furnace. Hoping to shake Kojima-sensei’s hand one day.

Been playing Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault in Early Access, and now it's fully out! Not sponsored or a paid post, I just think this game is awesome. It really scratches my hack-and-slash and shop-keeping sim itch.

Super busy day. Finishing up my Wolverine preview write-up and trying to make progress on two other reviews. Also attempting to pre-plan content for next week and maybe even go live at some point. Also have a busy work day at the 9-5. Phew lawd. Anyway, here’s me.

Really want to shout out Playstack and the developers, who sent over the Devout Edition of Mortal Shell II for me to check out. Play now in advanced access. My initial review score is 8/10, which I’m bumping a half point after a promised day 1 patch smoothed some jank 🤣

010

🌊 chilphil @chilphil.com · 17/08/2026

Mortal Shell 2 is a blast. Deep lore, and fun ways to get violent. Even if you haven’t 1, 2’s a worthy soulslike that improves on the design. Some jank, and not perfect, but the added difficulty tweaks are a great touch for newcomers and seasoned players of the genre. 8/10.

010

🌊 chilphil @chilphil.com · 13/08/2026

Few more days until Mortal Shell II. Everything reminds me of it.

🌊 chilphil @chilphil.com · 13/08/2026

Anyway, just bought a Switch 2 and aside from Breath of the Wild and 3D All-Stars, I don’t own any games for it. What should I buy? Who’s got an upcoming Switch release I can cover? 👀

🌊 chilphil @chilphil.com · 12/08/2026

I know I’m late but Breath of the Wild feels like a new game with the Switch 2 upgrade.

Maybe I’m getting older and like slower paced games. Maybe it’s nostalgia, but I’ve been craving a good city builder or simulation game these days. What are your favorites from the past, present, and upcoming titles?
