Let's make videogames like it's 1994. Today I'm posting the first part of a series of articles where we'll put up a environment to use Game-Maker, a tool by Recreational Software Design. At the time this tool promised to make game design easy.

HomeFM is not yet published, at least not until I've tested it enough and has all the features I want. But I'm glad that I'm back to my collection. As a frequent shopper in Bandcamp, I can add those purchases to my collection and keep supporting my favourite artitsts.

I used Claude to build HomeFM from scratch (suggesting that it should use mopidy and icecast), and I'm impressed that the tool basically speedran over the same problems we had when we implemented BAMP.

I should probably disclose that it's not the first time I've worked on something like this. A few years ago we made BAMP with some colleagues. BAMP is also based on mopidy. BAMP also had a voting system to order the songs (or take them out).

HomeFM runs only in my local network. I can open it on my desktop or in my phone and I can play the songs directly there, either by search or letting it queue 10 random songs each time. Under the app there's an web frontend, mopidy (a playback server), and icecast for streaming.

One of the projects I started recently is a local network web-based player for my music collection. It's a collection I've been building for more than 2 decades, and I had neglected a bit in favour of streaming services. This is HomeFM.

They still do, although often it's only advertised within the html head. I recently had a purge of a few websites that I know for certain that I don't read, or post way too often.

Last Monday I went to see Fred Armisen live, quite good show. I also brought my expired Venezuelan passport and took a picture with both of us holding it. I’m going to jail, folks. Also a great dude, once he saw the passport he switched to Spanish and asked me how I was. Short but sweet interaction

This Wednesday it'll be 20 years since I posted Take a Break (or Tómate un descanso in Spanish) to the Adventure Game Studio forums. This is the first game I ever posted to the internet. So I'll be playing the game in its entirety on Twitch 9PM UK/5PM EST twitch.tv/cyrax256

Is it bad to replace one bad habit with another? (Sorry bsky, I'm not still that much into you)

Using the Redirector extension for Firefox I've added a redirect rule that detects "https://twitter.com/" and rewrites it to "https://mastodon.social/". I can still see tweets, I just want to stop visiting that website.
